In view of the disasters that befell our country as well as neighboring places, many people are moved to donate and help. As the charities themselves would say, "donate wisely".

Hence, I wanted to post links about checking the charities.

This is most of necessary information about the charities. Social media is not a good way to check on the charities

https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/features/feature-0011-charity-scams

And here is the list of tax-deductible contributions

https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/contributors

(Many of organization that offer to match your donations (a good thing) are not on the list of public charities.)

We decided to donate to UNICEF who are concentrating on helping the vulnerable children affected by Irma. Here in the U.K., we have Gift Aid, so any donations we make, the Govt. gives another 20%.

I spread between several, including the United Way. However, I did not find anything centralized for Montana fires (they have lost over million of acres to fire).
