Sorry guys, i just want to get this right i promise not to post any new topics for the next couple days, i''m just full of questions.

On to settings, i really really like channel settings and since she wants a princess cut i would like the side diamonds to be princess as well, however i would also like diamonds on the side of the ring as well, you know what i mean?

Can anybody point me in the right direction? I can only seem to find the channel settings with the diamonds on the top of the ring to the side of the main stone.

That's what a channel setting is. I've never seen channel set on the sides, only on the top...when the sides have stones I have only seen pave.

Do you know she wants channel set? It's a bit of a chunky look, which women usually either love or hate.

ETA: Thinking about it I don't think it's possible to do channel set on the sides without a HUGE ring because channel setting cuts way into the setting to set the stones, so you couldn't do it on 3 sides of a ring without the ring being very thick...

Maybe i am not thinking about channel, but i don''t think i am thinking pave either because it wasn''t for me when i saw it, i could be getting this wrong i''m sorry...hahaha. Let''s see if i can post a picture of one i am talking about, i think this ring is beautiful and it is basically exactly what i am looking for, but i don''t know where to look. Also, this doesn''t seem too chunky? So maybe channel isn''t what it is?

I would like it to be just like this, it''s beautiful. But i don''t know where to look? Or even a ballpark range of price?

Sorry i couldn''t figure out how to attach the file so you have to follow the link...

Interesting...it does appear to be channel on all three sides. Looks like it was made by Knox Jewelers in Minneapolis. I'd give them a call. They are nice and could give you a ballpark estimate.

IMO though it's still a chunkier look. I ask if she likes channel because many men tend to like it (it's a more masculine look) and some women don't like it. Just something to consider, whether she's a chunky jewelry wearer or a more delicate jewelry wearer.

Yeah, that''s a channel setting all right. Never seen three sided channel setting before, but then, it''s not my thing so I don''t tend to look real close at channel set rings. I would think you might have to go custom for that, and that it could be something that not many jewelers can do either, else we''d see more of them I think. I wonder how sturdy it would be...

Indeed, make sure *she* likes channel set too, not just you. It seems like either you love it or hate it, not much middle ground. I think it does look a little metal-heavy to a lot of us PSers who like delicate, metal-minimal settings. Channel setting isn''t delicate, it is more structural looking and modernistic. I also think channel setting appeals to men more than women, too- guys kinda gravitate to strong/heavy/architectural settings when they''re going by what attracts their eye; at least that''s my observation from what we see posted here a lot. Just something to think about- if you know she''s all for it, definitely go for it!

That is pretty! The sides kinda look like they might have tiny prongs...bead set maybe? I would call them on it and see what they have to say.

So it seems to me that this type of setting is sort of a rarity? That''s quite interesting, oh and i will definitely check with her first to make sure it would be something that she is into. Thank you for your input really helped a lot!

Like Diamond Dana - I wonder if the sides are bead-set round brillianr too i.e. eacg round diamond set with 4-claws in a channel setting?
- a liitle like in the ring picture below where the sides have two rows of bead-set small round brilliant diamonds

Keep us posted on what you find out. Whatever you decide I am sure that your finacee will appreciate the thought and care that yuo have devoted to the whole process of choosing the ring and design for her!
