Any thoughts on a princess cut channel set ER and WB? I have it narrowed down to 2 sets and the other is pave but I know that pave diamonds are not as sturdy. I also felt like the channel set princess sparkled more. Will the channel set always hold it''s clarity as far as staying clean? What do you think?

Here is the channel princess cut set...

Any ring will need to be cleaned. I personally like channel sets over pave. I''ve heard the horror stories of loosing little stones...but not always the case. Buy yourself an unltrasonic cleaner, and you''ll have a great sparkly ring ALL the time.

sparxs111 is your ring channel set?

yes it is. 5 RB stones on each side.

there was a recent post where Garry H warnied against using small princess cut stones in channel sets the other day though...i think due to keeping them clean...

TammyD, those rings are stunning. They''re almost exactly what I want to get my girlfriend! Just minus the milgrain and with a different head. I prefer channel set princesses. I''m sure keeping it clean won''t be too much of a problem.

I think the channel set princesses flow much nicer than RBs, though you get more sparkle with RB
I couldn''t agree more. I think RB''s have more fire, but I don''t like the gaps that are left in the sides. The overall look is smoother with princess cuts. This is just personal taste, obviously. I''ve seen some stunning RB channel sets, but I just prefer princess.

I have noticed these dark spaces on some chanel set rings with rbs. But, some rb chanel set rings seem to not have as obvious dark spaces between the stones. Im not sure if it because they are set in a certain way or if they are smaller and more delicate. Perhaps a milgrain edge on the setting helps to mask the spaces. When the spaces dont yell out, I find these rings beyond gorgeous and am planning to get one for sure. I never realised how gorgoeus they were till I joined PS.

Thanks a bunch everyone. I am going tomorrow to look at it again and to pick the center stone. The round pave on the other ring did not sparkle nearly as much as this princess set.

Splinter....did you see the side view of the head on the set? It has diamonds on the bottom that really set it off and eveytime I had it on it made me all giddy b/c I could see them from the angle that I always see my ring from and your girlfriend may enjoy it.

I will post pics when I make my decisdion and get to bring her home :)

Yep, I saw the side view. The detail in the head is really stunning. I don''t normally like that sort of detail, but this is a really nice piece. Sounds like you''ve found the one!
