changing the metal of a ring

want it in platinum instead of its current metal, is
there a place I could take it to re-cast it?

Just about any of the custom jewelers mentioned here on PS can do that for you. I recommend poking around the Show Me The Ring section of the forum and reviewing the experiences of the various people who have posted their success stories there and then contacting the jeweler who seems most appealing to you to arrange shipping of the ring so that they can work up a quote for you.
