How difficult /expensive is it to change the head of a catherdral setting? I have my old e-ring setting and I REALLY want to put a different shaped stone in it.

(it used to hold a 6.6 mm diamond in 6 prongs).

The problem is, in a catherdral setting it seems like changing the head wiuithout affecting the rest of the setting is impossible - theyare attached. I will try to find a pic to show you what i mean.

DArn, i can''t find one.

treysar,
The cost to remove a head and replace it with another as well as to set the new stone is dependent on the size of the new stone and it''s shape. The weight of the new head and the type of material that it''s made from also play a large part in the cost. Platinum, for instance makes a really good head material, but is about 3 times the cost of 14K white gold. The general price range would start at maybe $150 and go up from there.
