To all of you ladies that have gotten married recently and picked your dress a "few" seasons ago, IF you still look at dresses (by any chance), do you see similar styles? Have the dress styles changed significantly since you picked yours?

There are certainly a lot of dress styles I like now, but do not plan to try them on until the end of this year or early next year. I guess the styles won''t change THAT much between now and then.

Please share your thoughts.

Thank you.

I''m not married... but I have been engaged for a good long while. I bought my dress almost two years ago, and the styles haven''t changed all that much. Just little tweaks here and there. But I wouldn''t worry about your wedding dress looking "dated". I mean they all will at some point right? I picked my dress because I loved it, and I still love it. So I think you can buy a dress whenever you want to, as long as you''re comfortable with it. JMHO.

I don''t know if the styles have changed.....but my tastes have changed! I would have picked a fuller skirt if I was shopping now...did you watch the bachelor wedding last night? THAT sillouette!

i picked my dress based on what i thought looked good on me, what made me feel like a million bucks.

while i enjoy fashion, that wasn''t necessarily the driving factor in my decisions. i wanted something that i liked when it came to my dress- if it was from a few seasons ago...oh well!

Thank you for all of your input.

I have a feeling once I start trying them on, it won''t matter what is in style. I''m really going for what looks good on me. I''m really excited about it.

I loved my dress...I paid $150 for it on ebay and I honestly feel like it was a very classic silhoutte.

Scoopneck tank with a full organza skirt and absolutely no embellishment. I LOVED my dress and my only regret is that it really DID go in the trash can after my TTD session.

I think that your tastes might change, but you should look for and find a dress that you absolutely love and stick to it. I considered getting a different dress as we got closer to the wedding, but I stuck to my choice and I am so glad that I did.

Good luck and have fun choosing your wedding gown!

This was my approach too. I chose something that I felt beautiful in.....however where I still felt like ME and like I was being "shown" and not like I was playing bride (you will definitely feel the difference!).

My dress was really quite simple yet elegant and classic. While of course there are some aspects of it that are the trend these days and were not in the past (such as a strapless sweetheart neckline) I did not want elements to me that screamed trendy (I won''t mention them, as some people here probably love them, but they do seem dated before they are even dated to me!).

I look at dresses from the past such as Jackie O''s (her original dress and her suit), or Caroline Kennedy''s and I see them as classic and timeless. A reflection of their time yes, but not "dated". When I see dresses from the past such as Princess Diana''s and the copycats of it, I see very dated (and it was that style of dress that I saw in my early childhood at the weddings of my relatives). These dresses all changed bridal fashions at the time and were copied by millions, however for some reason some retain more timelessness than others.

I tried on a bunch of dresses, saw what I liked on me and what I didn''t. My dress was a year or two old when I ordered it, I think - so being on the cutting edge of fashion obviously wasn''t my top priority :) I wanted a vintage feel, so I liked lace, and it was outside in the summer, so I didn''t want satin or taffeta, so my dress had an organza (or chiffon? Oh heck) skirt to it. And then I altered the dress to be tea-length.

Now I see tea-length dresses EVERYWHERE!! I sooo couldn''t find them when I got married. I think if you want "timeless" go with simple - a lack of embellishment, ruffles, etc, will probably stand the test of time better than anything else.

Thank you all.

I think the styles I like now are styles that will be around in a few seasons. I definitely think it''s the shape style I''m more interested in than what''s on it. As long as I can find something with a nice material and fit..I''ll be happy. :)

It depends on what you are looking for. I wanted a colored dress and had a terrible time, but they are becoming much more common. I also didn''t want strapless, which was hopeless but now is at least a possibility.

If you want an off white, mermaid or a line gown that is strapless, nothing will change.
