I''m changing my wedding set (platinum allergy) and need advice! My center stone is a 1.06 princess cut diamond, currently in a cathedral setting soldered with my half carat princess channel band. Love it, but am ready for a change anyway.

First, I don''t wear any yellow gold and am looking into othe white metal options. Nickel free white gold and maybe palladium? Can anyone tell me more about them?

And now, which e-ring setting to choose? My absolute favorite setting is the Tiffany Lucida and I was thinking of the WhiteFlash copy: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/X-Prong-in-18k-White-Gold_979.htm in either nickel free WG or 18K yellow gold

Maybe the W-prong if it can be made in another metal than platinum: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/W-Prong-for-Princess-by-WF_742.htm

And I''m open to other plain solitaire engagement ring settings for a princess diamond!

Thanks so much!

You have a PLATINUM allergy?

I can''t help with the metal question, but my setting vote is for the WF x-prong!

ECF: Yup, a platinum allergy. I get horrible eczema from wearing my rings. I didn''t have a problem with eczema until I got engaged. It''s getting worse as I get older too

are you sure it''s a platinum allergy and not the alloy they are mixing the platinum with? I''ve never heard of a platinum allergy.

anyway, I second the WF x-prong...I love that setting..

MrsSalvo- yes, most likely, it is the 5% alloys in the platinum and not the platinum itself since platinum is suppose to be hypoallergenic. However, my allergist has said that anyone can be allergic to anything. Coincidentally, I was telling my neighbor about this and she has a suspected platinum allergy. She went to Mervis Diamonds and they suggested plating the inside of her rings with Rhodium and it worked. SInce I'm to change my sets up anyway, I'm not going that route :)

I like the Whiteflash X prong for princess cuts too and I think it looks the most like the lovely Tiffany Lucida. Hope you can get a setting that doesn''t cause you any problems.

I love the look of the W-prong too. I was going to get it but decided to use the extra money towards the diamond itself. I asked about it during my purchase and they do make in a white gold if you want it. Good luck!
