change stone in princess setting?

I am searching for a diamond to replace the sapphire in my current ering. I really don''t want to change the setting as it means a lot to me. The current stone measures approx 6x6 (maybe slightly larger) and I''m looking for a diamond that is about the same size. This is my current setting: http://jeffcooperdesigns.com/item.php?id=213

My questions are as follows:

- how much difference in measurement will be allowable for a different stone to fit in the setting or how much "wiggle room" do you think i have when choosing a new stone? (ex: will a diamond that is 6.0x5.87 or 6.12x6.0 fit?)

- would it be possible to do a stone with cut corners or a bit of a different shape (ex: jubilee or princess of hearts) instead of a princess?

Jeff Cooper is a makes mountings. I would contact one of their retailers and have them ask Jeff Cooper how much wiggle room
there is and whether you can get a cut corner stone set in it. You would be surprised how much a manucturer can do.

Sometimes there is a charge of up to $500 to change an existing mounting to accomodate a new shape, etc.
