Ceremony help!

My sister is officiating our ceremony, so we''re collaborating on a good script to use. We''re all set except for the "Who gives this woman away..." part. She thinks it''ll be weird if she''s asking that, then it''s like, "Oh yeah, hi dad."

What could we say instead?

Maybe you could say "Do you give your blessing towards this marriage?" And then have the dad say "I do"

??I don''t think it sounds weird either way though

I had an issue with this line as well! Except, for me, it had more to do with feminist issues I think we modified it to ''who gives the bride away'', which still didn''t make it sound any better!
