Celebrating the Moms - what are y''all doing for Mother''s Day?

I''m making part of my mom''s Mother''s Day present right now, and I got to wondering what you all were doing for yours!

My mom is one of my greatest role models: she''s tough as hell despite being a tiny lady of less than 5 feet, and she never lets anything stop her. Growing up, I always felt like she''d listen to me about anything, and protect me from anything that threatened me.

Her two big "things" are scarves and pens, despite spending the last thirty years sandwiched between a gem dealer husband and a jewelry obsessed daughter - she has a great collection, and an uncanny ability to pick the best piece despite not knowing the subject, but she just doesn''t care all that much! - so I bought her a fancy pen in Rome, and I''m making her a silver and amber necklace (just because in my head, a good gift is a gift you''ve put some elbow grease into). I''ve asked her what she wants to do on Mother''s Day and she seems noncommittal, so I''m going to aim for brunch and flowers and wandering ... mother-daughter time.

How about you guys? What are you doing for/with your moms?

I got a few things for her in Disney while i was there last weekend...of course the real gift was proposing to my long time GF while we were in Disney and my mom helped with the planning...My mom has been on Cloud 9 ever since! This mothers day is extra special!

My mother is dead, but we are taking my MIL out for brunch. My 24 year old son will be with us. I don't really make MD a big deal in my house, in all honesty I get treated well 365 days a year. I discourage flowers on that day AND Valentines day.

I've given up trying to get things for MIL--she has everything and snarks about all gifts she gets--flowers are a waste, I have enough perfume, I'd NEVER get a mani/pedi/massage, etc. Brunch is it.

Brunch for my mom (tomorrow). I''m making cinnamon rolls, blueberry coffee cake, apple cinnamon muffins, banana bread. Sis is making the eggs and meat stuff, SIL is bringing some fresh fruit. I picked her up a pair of nice gardening gloves just because I saw them, we don''t really do "gifts."

Tomorrow night we''re having MIL and FIL over for dinner. I''m not sure what I''m making yet! MIL loves my lasagna, fettucine alfredo, etc but FIL hates all Italian food. I thought about homemade pizza that they both like. Maybe we''ll just do pork chops on the grill of something. DH always gives his mom pink carnations for MD.

DH picked JT up from preschool today and they arrived home with a bouquet of flowers for me. Lilies, roses, daisies, and a couple other things that JT picked out.

He also made a card at preschool with his handprints. So cute!

My mom will be driving cross country from Arizona to Ohio, so no big plans. MIL passed away 7 years ago. I will be working, there is talk of dinner out with the DH and kiddies, we''ll see.

My DH is taking me & my mom out to brunch tomorrow, along with our 2 sons. I wear Prada Iris perfume, and my mom is always giving me compliments on how much she loves it, so I bought her a bottle of it for herself.

My 3 year old son & DH are going shopping today so that DS can pick something out for me. Last year he chose a pair of hot pants at Target, but DH steered him away from them to the jewelry section, and instead he picked me out a very pretty bead necklace. I am excited to see what DS chooses for me this year!

I am going out to dinner with my mom and dad for Mother''s Day. My two brothers aren''t as good of children as I am so they will not be there

(I kid..one lives out of town and one decided this weekend would be the perfect time to go on vacation).
