CBI vs Whiteflash ACA?

I've settled on two diamonds. An ACA from WF and a CBI from Continental Diamonds (new home of Wink Jones). I believe (I think) both stores have the same upgrade policy. WF has by far the better web presence and media but are a few hundred more expensive. They are more of a known entity online but CBI stones seem to their own appeal to people who have compared in person. Spec-wise they are very similar.

I'm interested to hear which diamond you guys would go for?

Have you seen the CBI in person? You really can't go wrong. Both will be stunning. The WF stone has a slightly smaller table which some prefer. But the CBI table is not big either. The only other consideration would be color in my opinion. You can ask each whether the H is a high or low H. That could help with the decision. Just my 2 cents. Both excellent options!

I agree with all this! Either choice will be fantastic. I have a slight personal preference for the WF due to the table size, but I doubt the difference would be noticeable.

Side by side, I doubt anyone would be able to tell them apart.
Maybe base your decision on setting style, overall package price, and lead time for completion?

Unfortunately I won’t be able to see anything in real life first as I’m abroad.

I understand. Are you leaning towards one vs the other? What do you need to feel more comfortable making the decision? You could have each vendor make videos for you placing the stones next to higher and lower color stones ( say an F and J) for comparison. However due to different lighting, set up, etc. it's not a perfect method of comparison, but it may give you a sense of which stone is more appealing to your eye. Objectively, both will be great performers. So it may come down to which one speaks to you. Then, as was said above, the other aspects like vendor, setting options, price, total package can factor in to help you choose. Hope that helps.

But the CBI was almost 3 times the carat weight so the comparison was unfair.
I tried but just couldn't ignore the advantage the larger stone had.

Darn. I was going to suggest you see them both side by side. YOUR EYES would tell you which you preferred.

I can honestly say you cannot make a mistake with either of these beautiful diamonds.

Kenny, you make a great point. The larger the diamond the larger the flashes of white and colored light will be. (Assuming great cut, of course.)

This means there will actually be more eye visible scintillation events in the larger diamonds, as the internal reflections quickly become too small for the human eye to perceive.

Thus, the larger the diamond and the better the cut, the more visible scintillation events our eyes can perceive. This creates an advantage you not only can’t ignore, but one you are glad to see and do not want to ignore.

My vote is for the CBI. I like rooting for the "underdog."
