If a Cartier watch needs a battery replacement, does it have to be serviced by Cartier? The watch is several years old and I'd prefer not to send it to Cartier and I've heard of people utilizing a local (competent) jeweler for something as simple as a battery replacement. I wouldn't mind using a competent jeweler, but my biggest concern would be ensuring that it is sealed back up properly.

No need to send it back to Cartier b/c they'll charge you an arm and a leg, but don't let a mall jeweler touch it. Take it to a reputable watchmaker in your town.

I just dropped mine at Mayors. We don't have a Cartier in town. They send them out. 1-2 weeks and a clean and polish. Probably cost me an arm and a leg.

^Send them out to Cartier? My experience is about a 3 month turn around time when sending in a watch to Cartier....

Just before the Cartier boutique in my area closed, they sent out a letter saying that batteries could be changed at Tourneau Watches.

Here's a link to their locations, maybe there is one near you
