Often PSers will post questions regarding car reliability. I think this may be a good reference for those that don't want to pay for the Consumer Reports (did you all know they're owned by Sears now?) info.

FROM THE ARTICLE

As someone who has spent several years inspecting, appraising and selling over 10,000 vehicles a year for an auto finance company, I have seen countless vehicles that have been traded in because the owner can’t afford an unforeseen and expensive repair. More times than not, this expensive repair happens beyond the warranty period.

Three years ago I decided to do something about this. Along with statistician Nick Lariviere, we developed what would become known as the Long-Term Quality Index. This study now has over 820,000 trade-ins from all over the United States.

And if you’re kicking the tires on a used car, here’s a not-so-short list of the biggest weak spots in every major brand:

Don't say I never did nothin' fur ya. :sun:

Damn, my car is not well rated. My year is also the worst on the chart haha. Valuable info though, thank you!

Thank you for this iLander!

(my car is on its last legs :( )

thanks for posting this! I eagerly went to look for the graph on my car and it came up "none" "insufficient data". ;( Not sure why though, it's not a particularly new model lol.

This is great! Thank you!

It's very accurate in my experience. Very interesting.

Hi Danny! :wavey: Nice to see you! :)

I'm glad you guys like it!

My car is just average :(sad

My question (from the top rated link) is why have I never seen a Toyota Land Cruiser? Ever? Are they all in Montana somewhere or what?

It's fascinating when you start poking around in the data . . .

My new favorite brand (other than Audi- that will always be my favorite) Hyundai or my model was better than industry average in every year starting in 2005. I believe it.
