This is indeed the argument swirling around in my head. Yes, I can handle the the additional $1000 but my frugal side questions whether it is worth it for something 2 clarity grades lower, just a smidge larger yet 1k more.

Are you able to visualize one over the other? I''d hate for your frugal side to cause any regret in the future. Coulda, shoulda, woulda is difficult to live with sometimes. If you close your eyes and "look" down at your hand, which diamond is looking back at you?

Also, I wouldn''t approach this from a clarity perspective, but more from a performance perspective. Is the stone on the right performing in such a way that makes it worth the extra money? Only your eyes and wallet can decide. I also tend to be quite frugal. But if this were my choice to make, I know I''d regret saving the $1,000.

That is some convincing video when it comes to a demonstration of light performance. GOG you have just about perfected the art of making a distant diamond come to life on the screen of the potential buyer. Congrats on all the hard work.

I suggest you open a company to go after colored stone and colored diamond marketing. Getting the customer to see and understand, almost feel the stone at a great distance, is quite an accomplishment. You don''t need to stock these stones, but open up a company to sell your knowledge of how to make it real over the Internet has huge potential...... There are many excellent vendors whow own great inventory with dead websites that need such alive sales presentations. WOW!!!

You cant go wrong with either one! But I''m partical to price...they both look good so get the cheaper one, but thats just me cuz they both are beautiful!

Sure, the one on the right has the bigger flashes and light works. If 1000 is small change to me, I'd get that. But is that performance worth an extra $1000 honestly? Not to me it doesn't. The first one is no slouch but is made to look less beautiful only by the spectacular performance of the second. That won't happen IRL cuz you'd be sporting one cushion on yor finger.

I don''t plan on reselling it; if anything if I do upgrade again (trying to hit the 6.5 mm mark next), that extra $1000 will go towards the new stone because GOG takes back their stones at the full purchase price.

I agree with strmrdr! The $1,000 will still go towards the new stone if you ever decide to upgrade since he gives you full purchase price. The problem is I don''t know if I''d WANT to trade in that gorgeous stone if I had it in my hot little hands! I would want the best stone I could afford so I wouldn''t have any regrets later. JMO Good Luck! p.s. I think the stone on the right looks larger too because of how bright it is compared to the one on the left.

Am I too late here?!?! Hope not. Anyway, just wanted to put my two cents in. Go for #2. A big part of buying a diamond isn''t only how it looks (#2 looks better, btw), but also knowing that you''ve bought something that you''ll be proud of. If you get #1, there''s a very high chance of buyer''s remorse.

In all honesty, my eyes popped a lot and I got really ambitious once I read Redrose''s post. She mentioned that GOG is able to order a stone per colour, clarity and size since it is now their signature cushion. In talking with Jon, if I dropped the colour to I/J and clarity to an eye clean SI1/2, I can get everything at one go:

1. Get a stone just under 1.5 ct mark (save on the price jump)
2. Hit my long desired final 6.5 mm mark
3. Perfectly square cushion
4. Get that awesome OMC dazzler
5. All within budget (what I would have spent on OMC2)

Now all I have to do is wait for about 2 months...

Yup, Jon made it clear I''m second in line.

He is just awesome. I still plan on keeping it a simple 3 stone ring, most likely paired with my 2 red cushion spinels. If I can swing it, maybe it''ll be a Leon ring to get those claw prongs. My original ring is a copy of his so I''m thinking of getting the real one now since this will likely be my last upgrade.
