Can''t get pictures onto computer

So, my dad got us a printer dock a while back. He has one and thinks it''s the cats ass so felt we needed one too. We didn''t want one-we were getting along fine using the usb cords or whatever. He bought one for us so I said whatever, you hook it up. Well, it''s been nothing but a thorn in my side. If I have a problem w/it, he''s 10 miles away and he''ll look at it when he has the time, so last time, I unplugged it and took care of it myself so I could get the pictures onto the computer w/the cord.

Guess what, this time it won''t work w/the cords! I''m totally stumped. I completely unplugged the stupid printer dock, restarted the computer. Nothing. Synch and Transfer manager tells me I have to press the button on the dock. It won''t let me do anything. I know it worked last time b/c I put pics on in March. I tried both cameras, using their cords and the port in the front of the tower.

I went into my programs to see if it was there to get rid of it, didn''t see it. I deleted it from all programs on the start menu b/c it wouldn''t come up..possibly b/c I''d already unplugged it but I didn''t think of that at the time. I just got torked and deleted it.

How do I tell my computer that I''m not using the stupid dock anymore and am going back to the usb cables?

I got new stones today and want to take pictures to show!

You should be able to hook up the camera, turn it on, then go into My Computer. You should see a temporary folder. I can''t tell you what it will be called, but it will show up as a new folder. You should be able to go in directly to the computer''s storage device and get the pictures that way without using any other program.

I hope this works! It works for all 3 of the cameras in our house.

Damn. Nothing. Maybe the front usb port doesn''t work? I know it can be plugged into the back-but I can''t pull the tower out far enough to see where. Technology thwarts me and it makes me irritated at my dad. grrr

It could be the port then. Usually something should show up in My Computer when you plug something into the USB. Even if it won''t let you access it, there should be some sort of icon or indication that you plugged something in.

Do you have anything else you can test it with? Like one of those little USB memory sticks? Then you''ll know if it''s the port.

How old is your computer? Some newer models have a slot specifically for a camera memory card, and you can avoid the cables entirely.


If you installed any software to get the printer dock working you may need to update any drivers for the camera.

Thanks guys! I think I was a little premature in my stomping feet and pulling hair and mf-ing everything in my house. I just now realized I um..well I thought I had the camera ON and I did NOT. So..yeah. Sigh.

I''ve got a cold sore and I can feeeeel the monthly irritability clawing at me and I''m tired. Blame it on that shall we?

Regardless, there should be pictures soon eh? ''course, since I unplugged the printer dock, that was also how the other camera charged, and there''s a few pics on that and the batteries are dead.
