Hello Everyone!

So I think I''ve pretty much decided on a stone, its a 2.51, HRD certified, H, SI1 (eyeclean), very good cut. But the problem is I''m now stuck on what kind of setting to get! I thought finding the diamond was the hard part, but this is proving to be just as hard! I''m looking for something that will make the stone look its largest and really pop, and be most flattering to it. I''m down to three styles I really like:

1) Simple knife edge

2) Micro-paved band that''s less than 2mm wide

3) Pear side stones (about 0.50-0.70cts each)

What do you guys think??

Thanks so much

I like the micropave band the best. But the pear side stones might make the center stone look larger. :-)

I genuinely LOVE

all 3 options you listed. I have a knife edge solitaire myself, so I obviously like that choice, but deep down I am LONGING for a setting with pear side stones!

One day........I hope.....and the thin micro pave band would be FABULOUS. I''m NO help! I love all 3 choices!

They''re all fabulous choices. But if you really want the center stone to *pop*, the thin, micropave band would be my choice with the Tiffany knife-edge coming in second.

The thin micropave would be lovely!

Thanks so much for the replies

I really love the look of the pear side stones, I was just worried it might overwhelm the stone and take away from it. I''m just having the hardest time deciding! I''ve tried on all the styles but just can''t seem to make up my mind. I think I might put it in a simple solitaire setting for now until I can make up my mind

the pears will make the center stone pop as long as they are the right size ratio.

not too big...

Thanks for the tip Eva!

Do you think something in the .50-.70 range would be okay?

I don''t think you can go wrong with any of your choices, but pear sides might maximise ''pop.''

Ok I''m alone so far but I vote with for the knife-edge solitaire. It''s so classic and pairs with anything.

Oh gosh....those are my 3 all time favorite settings!

Here's how I would rank them:

1. micro pave band
2. pear sides
3. knife edge solitaire

What size is your finger?

I''m a size 6.25! Although I wish I was a size 4

Micropave is my vote.

I vote for the micropave also.

Do you have any preferences on the wedding ring? If you go with micropave, then wiould you be looking to get a matching wedding band or are you happy to mix and match?

I love micropave, but I wonder if you''d have more fun with the wedding band if you went for a plain knife edge engagement ring? That way you''ve be able to wear a micropave wedding band or go with a plain band or pick a non matching stacker?

If you do decide on pear sides then you may want to go for a curved wedding band, unless you can cope with a gap. Be careful if you decide on a straight pave wedding band in case it rubs away the prongs of your 3 stone ring.

I have a round centre with trillion sides. I wear my curved wedding band by itself if I want to avoid damaging my engagement ring, but it looks a bit odd so will probably get a few straight bands / stacking rings to use as wedding rings.

I vote for the micro-paved band. I thinner the band, the larger the diamond looks.

is your stone round>?

Of these, I''d go with the micropave, but have you considered a Harry Winston-style setting with 2 tapered baguettes? I think big stones look really nice this way!

pear side-stones

Micro pave band.

I vote for pear side stones!

Well, at that carat weight you certainly don''t need sidestones to give the ring presence...but i vote for the pear sidestones anyway

. I think Kaleigh has something similar (see her avatar) and it reminds me of Angie Harmon''s ring. i think it would be awesome!

choice #2 is my pick!

what about something like this?

Thanks to all of you the replies! Its really sweet of you to take time out to help me decide

bgray- My stone is RB, and thanks for the attached pic! Its always good to get new ideas

just_looking- As for the wedding band, thats a good point as I hadn''t actually thought of that, but Ive always loved eternity bands with diamonds that go all the way around. But I''m not to strict on the ering and wband matching, I don''t mind mixing it up a little and giving it some character! Maybe round side stones would be easier?

jstarfireb- I haven''t actually seen the Harry Winston with tapered baguettes, I''ll have a search for it online now.

violet3- I love Angie Harmons ring! Thats what got me started on the pear sides, as I had originally considered round side stones. I love how she paired it with her wedding band as well. (And I''ve seen Kaleigh''s ring here on PS and I just LOVE it! Gorgeous ring! Actually all of you have the most amazing rings, this is the best forum ever!)

diamondMary- I''ve always heard the thinner the band the bigger the diamond! And I always used to think that to be true, but recently a friend of mine changed the setting of her ering to one with side stones, and I felt it just made her center diamond stand out so much more! But maybe it was just the *bling* factor that made it look bigger. But Ive also seen cases where the ering looks smaller when paired with side stones.. so confusing!

I think Im just going to spend as much time possible searching online and trying them on at jewelry stores. Everyone says the right setting will speak to you, so hopefully it will soon because so far all three settings are speaking to me! Each time I try one on, I love it until I try the next one!
