Has anyone seen one of Victors Canera Vintage Cushion diamond in person. I have contacted him about making a ring and he is recommending I use one of his that has been graded by GIA 1.03 HVS1. It is at AGS right now so he can't provide pictures right now. I am on a short time frame, so I need to commit soon. He has said the diamond gets an AGS light performance score of 0, but I don't know if that is what the design gets, or this specific diamond. Also, I think the price he quoted is pretty good. Thanks!

I have not seen one of Victor's cushions in person - but Victor is a reputable and experienced vendor with a good reputation.

However, I don't know what his policies are. Does he have a money back guarantee if you're not happy? Does he have a buy-back policy? Does he have an up-grade policy? These sorts of things might not matter to you ... but it's just something to think about.

There are many vendors offering antique style cushions now - I think they are all slightly different in appearance - Take your time. Do your research. Try to see them in person if you can.

Ask him to send you a photograph and ASET of the stone and possibly a video and post them. If it is a prototype of his design it won't be a dud but you need to be sure it has the right shape outline and facet pattern that is appealing to you.

VC is an experienced ring designer but is relatively unproven on PS in terms of diamond optics, design and sales.

Victor was working on the faceting of these. The first generation design was unattractive. The second was lovely. I would tell him that you want it, but want the right to refuse it if you don't love it when he sends you pics. The faceting, not just the light return has to be pleasing with fancies.

Great questions.
What's the price? Are you planning on having him make the setting (I assume you are)?

Thanks for all of your help!

After considering a lot of different avenues I have decided to go with a diamond from GOG as they had all of the information available on the stone and it looks like a pretty good one and was recommended on this forum the other day . Here it is-

I was intrigued by Victors stone, but he doesn't currently have the stone as it is at AGS, he had no pictures of the stone (no ASET either. The stone I chose was more expensive, but I didn't want to take a chance.

Steven Kirsch will be doing the ring. I have exchanged a few emails with him and he has been very good with his communication. He did recommend a diamond that he would source. The video looked very good, but again no aset. So I asked him if he would do the ring with a diamond sourced from another place and he had no problem with it at all. In addition to this I am on a time frame and he said he would get right on the ring when I get him the stone and have my ring to me on time. He seems awesome to work with.

Thanks everyone.
