Hi fellow Canucks,

I am finding the quotes to insure my ring ridiculously expensive.

What did you do to insure your ring? Or did you just skip it? With my current carrier (TD), I only have $5000 coverage for "jewelry" under my regular home owner''s insurance. I need more coverage.

Thanks for any tips,

Anne

I don''t know if this helps but getting our jewellery insurance was a pain in the you know what but it''s worth it for the peace of mind.
We have tenant insurance through Coast Capital. We had to up the value of our personal property in order to insure my jewellery. Stupid heh? It went up from $25K to $50k just so we can tack on the jewellery for an extra $14.00 a month. Most jewellery insurance is extra. Our personal property has to be valued 50% more than the value of the jewellery.

I think you have to just get additional jewellery coverage. It may cost you but it''s worth it.

I am with TD as well and have had a little hassle with them. I put a rider on my policy for my e-ring, but to get additional coverage they quoted me a couple of dollars per every hundred that your ring is appraised at. So over and above what I pay a month...it wasn''t worth it for me. It''s like $400 a year. I like how TD says that they will give you a discount for all of the other banking that you do there. I have all my investments, banking, home/auto insurance with them and I still feel ripped off!

Wow soulsis, that is expensive unless you e-ring is huge and expensive.

I think mine is an extra $168.00 a year for the jewellery plus home insurance. But I guess having them up my personal property by half, I'm paying more than $168.00 in hind sight.

My dh husband says it's worth every penny. We can afford the few extra dollars to insure it but we can't afford to replace it if I lose it.
