Canadians buying Online - Custom Charges?

I have looked online and have seen conflicting answers.

Have any Canadians bought a diamond ring recently online from the U.S. and sent to Ontario, Canada? Did you only pay the 13% HST or were there additional charges? Thank you

When I buy from the US, I am charged GST + PST on the item's Canadian dollar value.

There is no separate 'duty' or other fees (other than shipping charges from the vendor).

HST only. But HST is the old GST + PST (provincial sales tax). It is calculated on the amount of USD price of the item recalculated into CAD.

Do remember to add in the handling fee by the shipping service. I think it’s only $7 for Canada Post but at least $30 if going through UPS and the other couriers.
