Canadian Susan's Wedding

I read about this yesterday. All I can say is hmmmm.

Yeah, I read this. Lol.

I hope the dude left skid marks and I’m sorry he already had a child with her

I wonder if it’s true too.

Well it was confirmed by one of her relatives, but it's the internet so....

Yes I read the whole sad and sorry tale.
If it’s true, he is better off without her. She is such a ungrateful person with delusions of grandeur and self entitlement.
I mean, WHO even thinks of hitting up their guests for $1,500 each so she can drop $60k on wedding day to feel like a Kardashian!
Some young people today. Ugh!

What a crazy lady! I feel sorry for the child.

I find it pretty hard to believe. For one thing, a lot of the wedding expenses are paid well before 4 days prior to the wedding date. So I am not buying it.

The Facebook group does exist. That I'm sure of. And yes the original group is currently hidden on Facebook.

As for whether this woman actually did all of these things and whether woman #2 is her relative or not... who knows.

If it’s true, then frankly I’m not surprised that her guests didn’t want to fork out to attend.

Whatever happened to the concept that you invited people to share your special day, simply for their company?

Why should guests be expected to pay for something that you want but can’t afford?

If the relationship had been based on more than her greed, then they’d have still got married with a ceremony they could afford.

Veruca Salt for sure!

Okay, I admit I clicked on the link and read the article. I don’t know if the story is true or not, but it stretches belief :-o. There are also some major contradictions in the story. The intro says the bride is Canadian, but her cousin, referring to the brides threat to travel in South America for two months, says she doesn’t believe it because the bride has never been outside the U.S. in her life.

Why did I expect the link to take me to the WB?

To be honest, $60K weddings happen all the time in Canada. Prices are higher here. That being said, I believe the average is closer to $20-30K and it's just not acceptable to ask for your guests to pay for the wedding in any way. That's in very poor taste. You're not supposed to ask for any kind of gift really, nor expect any gift. This bride was totally in the wrong. I bet she regrets it now. But she shouldn't have planned something she couldn't afford. I'm always on board with just eloping. Bah humbug!:eek2:

If she is real she sounds touched, so I doubt she regrets it. It’s always going to be someone else’s fault.

I saw it shared on fb and thought it was fake. Most people in the UK know that the Daily Mail will print anything. Mostly complete rubbish or right wing junk.

I'd like to refer you to the reporting of these quality press establishments instead then:

Evening Standard: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/wor...use-to-pay-nearly-900-to-attend-a3921401.html

Daily Star: https://www.dailystar.co.uk/real-li...ng-bridezilla-friends-donations-viral-twitter

Fox News: http://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/20...nd-family-refuse-to-pay-for-60g-nuptials.html

:D:D:D

OMG Daily Star, I remember seeing it in print when I was young and it was all topless women and UFOs!

This was on Yahoo, Fox, and many others too. If it's fake, that makes it even more hilarious that they all got duped. (But sad for us that the news can't tell what's fake.)

People set up all sorts of stuff for the internet in the hopes of going viral. It may be true, who knows? The news just trawl the internet for content these days anyway. I know there have been other stories that have been posted by supposedly real news companies that turned out to be hoaxes/fake news.

It was just a bunch of screen shots. No way of verifying whether it was a real person or a fake account, and as @MollyMalone said - Snopes have already tried to investigate and their verdict is unproven.

I definitely take everything I see on the internet with a grain of salt! Too many people out there just want their 15 seconds of fame.
