strong fluorescence

I color, Si2.

Very nervous about color, inclusions, and the fluorescence. Will it turn blue in the sun? Are the inclusions obvious? Thank you! It's an eight star brand.
 
I have a few stones that have strong fluo & they don't glow overly blue in direct sun & I don't see any haziness in the stone if anything people compliment more on the whiteness & sparkle of the stones in sunlight - can you return or exhange if not happy? As I say that is my personal experience with fluo sometimes you can grab a great deal with fluo you just have to inspect & make sure you have a decent returns policy hope this helps =)2
 
What would you price that diamond at?
 
I looked for an equivalent match but couldnt find any SI2s that were eye-clean...

I'm guessing in the $7ks (which doesnt narrow it down much). Whiteflash has similar size/color but its an SI1 and no flour.

Go look at some branded "I" colored stone. Usually well cut stones (particularly a branded stone) face up pretty white. You may see a tint of color
when viewing the side. However, all people have different sensitivities to color so YMMV.

You'll have to ask the gemologist to evaluate the stone for negative effects due to the flour. Most people dont mind the blue in bright sunlight but
they dont want it to appear oily. Eight start may say if they evaluate for this in their documentation but not sure.

Clarity...also need to ask the gemologist. Is it eye-clean...from what distance are you viewing? Can you see anything from closer?

You could post the GIA/AGS/? lab report. That might help us to tell you to look out for.

They are asking 12k for it. My trade in lowers the price, but maybe I would be better buying off Whiteflash and just selling my original diamond somewhere.

For 12k, we should be talking 8.00mm I SI2, not 7.00mm. The vendor is inflating the price of the new stone, because you are stuck with this vendor for upgrade; he can charge you whatever he wants.

That's your decision as to whether the brand name is worth the premium in price. It's kind of like people who really want Tiffany rings. They are going to cost more, but for some the brand name is worth it.

Well, I mean is it way above what they normally charge for that type of diamond because of my trade in. I know it’s more than unbranded.

Where is best to sell my diamond if not trading in?

I missed that part. Sorry, I do not know how 8star diamonds cost. It appears they are about twice as expensive as WF or other super ideal cut diamonds.

After this, say, you want to upgrade to 8.0mm 2.0c I SI1. With WF, it will be 18.5k. With 8star, it will be around 30k. You will be in a bigger dilemma.

Having that said, I am not too sure if selling your existing diamond privately is the best option either. You will get significantly less than what you originally payed for.

If you are going to do another significant upgrade after this, I say start fresh with other super ideal cut diamond vendor. If this is the last upgrade and you have been happy with 8star, go with 8star.

you could reach out to WF and talk to them about sending in your diamond for evaluation. They gave me more than 70% of the value that I paid on my original diamond to put towards my upgrade.
 
Does the image of the diamond I am looking at compare at all to the one dancing fire has?

I will say I love my original 8star. Just not sure whether to go with a 1.40-1.50 unbranded diamond. I want a noticeable difference in size from 5.9 mm. The eight star is 7.0 mm
 
How much trade in are you getting on your first stone? It may be close to a wash since 8* is charging so much more than Whiteflash.
Let us see what we can find you with the difference of your trade in and $12k.

I was an EightStar dealer for some years, before I found the brand I now represent. They were beautiful, although expensive diamonds then, and still are. I found their price to be well below Hearts on Fire, more than other branded Internet brands such as WhiteFlash and still, I sold many of them.

Once I met with Paul Slegers on his first trip to the United States, my days with EightStar were numbered.

The painting used on the upper girdle facets to remove leakage on the edge of the diamond results in a slightly different look to the EightStar which many love. I know that I did, and frankly, still do. I love the perfection of the diamond I represent better though.

It comes down to looking at the diamonds from both EightStar and the diamond seller that you choose to deal with and seeing which diamond YOUR eyes choose. We can not tell you which you will like better. Only you can do that.

The question will then be, do you like it enough better to pay more for it, or do you barely see the difference and wish to save money. There is no right or wrong answer to that question and ONLY YOU can make that determination.

I am getting 4K for my trade in. So 8k out of pocket which gets me another eightstar 1.25 (one I posted) or an unbranded 1.40 range diamond according to that jeweler. I will go in next week and see all in person. If I could get anything bigger on Whiteflash that would be amazing and i would work on selling my diamond privately. How low in color can I go? Should I look for medium fluorescence in a low color? Are all Si2 going to be obvious to naked eye?

You'll only be able to go slightly bigger with the difference but if you willing to go to $12k and sell your stone on its own then you can go bigger.

Quite a selection on WF. WF has an excellent trade-up. If you get a J and decide you want to upgrade the color in a year you jonly have to find a stone that
cost slightly more (no 2x or upgrading multiple specs)

I really wish you could go see a ACA so you could decide for yourself. Here is a thread showing some ACAs...if you do a search you will find others.

Not all SI2s will be obvious to the eyes but they are rare IMO.
You could look for stones with fluor but its only going to help in certain conditions...should help lower the price though.

Let me put it this way... For the money spent I'd buy a MRB top ideal cut from Wink,WF or BGD before I buy an 8*.
JMO..;))

8* on top. recut by Infinity in the middle and GOG H&A on the bottom.

Thank you so much tty333! I would totally go for the 12k on my own, but selling the stone seems so daunting. It's in a ring right now - is it best to sell the whole thing or get the diamond removed? It's a Carl Messler and pretty unique so not sure how commercial. I am getting full trade in value from jeweler, but on regular market would I be losing a lot of money? Or does the increase in diamond price in last 10 yrs even that out? Maybe the somewhat rarity of the 8stars helps too?

I am all for the J color I think as long as no fire and sparkle is lost. Mine is an I and it's looks totally colorless to me, lol.

I do have ACA's for my 5 stone wedding band and love them.

What size from a 5.7mm .72 would really be noticeable and worth the upgrade?

Is the difference from 1.40 to 1.60 very noticeable?
