FI and I are sick, and our little one broke.

Warm or cool? Anyone have a favourite model?

ETA: we don't have kids so the heat isn't a concern. Looking for one for a 700sq ft room, under $100

No opinions but will be interested to see what you find out as we''ve been wanting a humidifier for our bedroom as well, it gets so dry and cold in there that its hard to sleep at night, boo

We have a Honeywell ''QuietCare'' (Cool air) and it does it''s job just fine. I can''t say it''s a favourite since I haven''t really used anything besides this, but we''ve had it for over 2 years and it works great.

I recently got an evaporative humidifier and I like it much better than our old one, which was warm/cool mist (had a button to switch between the two). The one I got is a Kenmore from Sears -- this one. It does use a replaceable filter, and unfortunately the first one got mildewy really fast, so if it happens again I might go back and complain. But otherwise, I think it does a much better job than our old one. Plus, the old one spewed white dust all over the place and made everything look horrible within a few hours of turning it on, while this one doesn't create any dust at all.

ETA: the one I got is rated to 1300 sq. ft. and is a little out of your budget, but IMO it's worth it. The other models I looked at were a Lasko and a Vornado, which were both under $100 -- I probably would have gone with the Vornado if I hadn't gotten this one.

we recently bought this one and have been happy with it. i love that you can point the nozzle in the direction you want to direct the mist.
