Can you "re-do" prongs?

I was proposed to near the end of Dec this past year, and love everything about my ring with the excetption of the prongs....they just really bug me and seem to stand out more than they should to me?

Do you think it's possible to re-do the prongs to make them a little more delicate without compromising the structural integrity of the setting?

How much do you think it would cost?

Yes, prongs can be rebuilt. Pricing will vary on where you are and from shop to shop. I think some PSers have redone their prongs for less but mine cost $80 per prong. They had to be completely rebuilt as they were almost sheared off (2nd hand setting). Do you just want them less stubby and more pointy? If so, then the cost will likely be less.

I love your ring!!! I think it is possible, but finding the right person to do it is the challenge. I think people like Victor Canera and Steven Kirsch do superior prongs, but I they may not take it on if they are backed up with custom projects. Not to mention, it will cost you shipping both ways and the labor itself, so it won't be cheap. This is something I would never consider doing at most regular jewelers.

more or less yes, just less stubby - a but thinner wouldn't hurt either, but mainly less stubby!

Another struggle, I'm in Richmond, VA at the moment and I'm not sure we'd have any skilled enough benches in the area that I think could do it. When I can find a new job, I'll be moving to San Antonio, TX so who knows....!

I live in central TX and so if you don't find anyone who can do tapered prongs until you get here (or can't do it until you get here) I know someone in Austin.

The certainly can be rebuilt. The prongs on the center stone of my e-ring were very stubby and I hated them, and I have since had them redone to a more tapered look. It's not claw prongs, but so much more elegant than stubby ones.
