Hi everyone,
I''m a newbie here but have been trying to learn as much as I can. This site is a great resource.
Can you give me your feedback on this RB?
EGL USA
Ideal Plus (the cert says hearts & arrows)
G 2.03
SI2
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Culet: No
Flour: Faint Blue
8.15 x 8.10 x 5.01
Table: 57
Depth: 61.7%
PV: 41.0 degrees
Crown: 34.9 degrees
I emailed the vendor who said the inclusions are on the girdle but the center is "completely clean". They also said the EGL "G" is closer to an GIA "H" but apparently the blue flor helps make it look whiter (I don''t understand why that would be)
The cert: so, I know many of you will warn about EGL. Here''s my thinking: Of the 4 C''s, my priorities are carat and cut, followed by color and clarity. I''m thinking why pay extra for the paper when, because it''s a RB, I can be fairly sure I''ve got a winner just based on the numbers (and an appraisal). At least, that is my rationale. Is that good logic? And as for color, I am one of those who could live with an H so I am intentionally going after a EGL G to get more size for the same money. I already know which setting she wants, and it has pear side stones of G-H color.
If you want to suggest other stones, here''s what I''m looking for:
approx 2 ct
it''s got to sparkle (ideal cut)
eye-clean
face up white (H or better)
symmetry/polish VG or EX
under $13K
Thanks in advance for taking time to respond.
