It didn''t take long for me to realize that Blue Nile is not the online vendor of choice in this forum, which does make me think twice about using them. But their prices and inventory seem tough to beat.

Here is the stone I am looking at:

http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-1-carat-ideal-cut-g-color-si1-clarity_LD01328413?__fun_frm=i&filter_id=0

The wire price on this one is $14,567

My target price for the stone is <$15,000
My goal is a stone size of 1.6-1.8
color of H or better
SI1 clarity

Can anyone find me a better stone for the price from one of the other "Price Scope Favorites?"

This could be a beauty from well regarded vendors NiceIce, and also cut by Infinity!!

This one could be a good choice from James Allen also, AGS0.

Both should come in around budget if paying with a bank wire.

Thank you very much for the response! That second one is a great find. I''m going to stay away from the first one primarily bc of the very strong blue fluorescence.

This leads me to another question I run into all the time. Is the differance worth the money to go from a color H to a color G?

With SI clarity stones over 1.5 carats, especially, you always have to ask the questiosn, "is the stone eye-clean or not". The database on BN cannot tell you this. I would recommend working with a vendor that can bring the stones in-house and give you an honest opinion. The difference between an eye-clean SI stone and non eye-clean can be $$$$.

I highly recommend JamesAllen and Whiteflash.

To me it wouldn't be personally, as there probably wouldn't be much if any difference between G and H if size, shape and cut quality ( and reliable lab grade) are similar. It is up to your preference of course, but an H colour should still face up plenty white if you did want to consider this grade.

And you are most welcome!

Please don''t avoid a stone based on fluoro - most of the time it doesn''t have a negative effect, it''s actually a positive. With very strong though, just have the vendor eyeball it to make sure it''s not oily or milky, but it''s likely to give it a gorgeous effect!

Check it out before you discount it!!

This stone is only a 1.52, but it''s also only 12k...you could save the 3k and put it in a fantastic setting. A 1.5 will look pretty close to a 1.6... http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1088975.asp

I also really like the JA stone that lorelei pointed out if you really want to go bigger. JA has about the best prices in town, very comparable to BN, and they offer more info on their stones and an upgrade policy.

I really don''t think there will be much of a difference betwee G and H either. Ditto the other comment about flour. Rarely does flour negatively impact a stone or make it look milky. Most of the time you can''t even notice it and personally I love it when you can (as long as it is blue rather than yellow flour).
