Can You Eyeball This OEC for Me?

Hi All..

I've been looking for a new ring for some time but keep getting distracted as to what exactly will make me happy. I thought initially it would be a yellow diamond but I've been less than thrilled in my search. Seems like there is always something going on with any stone I look at with any vendor, that I cannot commit to. So I surmised that despite the RI being different for Sapphire & Yellow diamond, I would be able to live with a sapphire quite easily. Back to diamonds then! LOL I looked at various shapes trying to steer away from rounds ( of which I have several). I didnt succeed! I looked at cushions, but overtime I viewed pics of them in a halo, I couldnt quite figure out if they were round or cushion. I have a 2.47 round that I can put in a cushion halo & voila, same effect. So..what to do? I think I need therapy because quite frankly, I like the round shape. I, no doubt will add a Pear or Marquise down the road but right now, I'm searching for an OEC. I think I found one. Can you guys comment on the stone. I have it on hold so not completely committed to it but for all intents & purposes, I hope to bring it home & eventually set it in a gorgeous halo. I am quite uncertain about the colour but the vids, pictures & Erika's explanations have put me at ease. Of course, the return policy is great for me & I can return it without issue should I not like it. Is a win-win. I think?

So...what do you all think? I dont mind the pinwheel faceting as opposed to the flowered one. I like both equally. I like the Med.blue Fluor & the Orange phosphorescence is interesting & quite unique. And I've seen the AGS report which is clean, nothing under the table & nothing to worry about. Numbers stack up to Dave Atlas's chart. What should I focus on that might make me think twice about this stone? And if there is an issue with the stone, what should I pay attention to when I look at other stones?

I'm leaning towards a rose gold setting but holding off that idea till I see the stone in person. Erika suggested a white metal halo & rose gold shank to combine the 2. She felt that the white gold halo was ok considering the colour & how the Fluoro influenced the stones face up colour. Most likely I will bezel the stone since I love bezels.

I saw your post last night and I really wanted to comment.

I think you need to see this in person. It has some very unique characteristics and qualities. You need to play with it, in your environment, so you can decide if those characteristics speak to you-- appeal to your eye. It's so important with a stone like this.

I think the stone looks good. It seems very white for an N. I have an N AVC and it shows more color. Love love the high crown and small table. The only thing I noticed about this stone is that it has a watery look. I think some OEC has that look. I had an OEC sent to me and found that I did not like the look. I prefer the crisp faceting of the mrb or even a tranny. Do you like that look? But I think RandG is right, you should have this sent to you and see if you like it.

I do love the MRB & I have a few of those already. I thought I would step out of the box & try another round stone, an OEC this time. LOL LOL I'm SO radical..not. I've been looking at so many stones my eyes are swimming. I have to admit, there are a lot of nicer patterns out there, but most of what I like are sold. But I'm leaning towards the flower now or as you mentioned the tranny. A lot of inventory is already sold. You know when you get ** that ** idea in your head you go full steam...ya, I'm there. It's entirely NOT a practical or logical place to be. I should just step on the brakes but I've been wanting something new for a while.

If this doesn't pan out I'm getting an oval. Talk about jumping from one hot pot to another.

That's a very interesting diamond. I've been looking at it a lot. Maybe talk to Erica about it? That's what I did with the OEC I got from her...used her eyes & input to get a better idea. She also took a couple more videos for me...

This thread was buried so far down I didnt know anyone else responded. Sorry Inverted. No , I didnt end up with the stone. In the end I just couldnt wrap my head around an N colour. I am quite colour sensitive. I have a modern round J with medium blur fluoro & although it is white enough, I wasn't willing to take the chance on an O colour considering. I see the stone is sold on Erica's site. Obviously someone is ok with the colour. LOL
