Hi ladies! I just bought a YG lavalier to replace one that was given to me from my grandma because it was stolen. It looks very very close but its not the same. My whole jewelry box was stolen and this priceless heirloom from the 1800''s was stolen as well. I would have been wearing it, but it was YG. The "new" one is also YG but I know that WG has different alloys in it to give it a "white" apperience and then is plated with rhodium to "finish the look" or something like that.

My ? is....can I have my YG pendant/lavalier plated to? Or doesn it not work that way?

Thanks!

You can have yellow gold rhodium plated and your pendant too. Sorry about the theft, that is awful. Are you talking about the chain on the pendant?

No, a lavalier is a style of pendant from the 1800''s (perhaps before and after as well...not sure on the dates). I''ll go get a pic. I''d buy a WG chain to wear it on becuase I won''t be losing this one!

I know who took it too but I can''t proove it and it was 2yrs ago. I''m just really sad bc i had lots of things that i didn''t wear that were special to me. My dad bought me a ring in denver when i was 8 and that was in there as well

But by far my biggest loss was the lavalier. I''ve been watching ebay ever since for one "close". It was cool getting it from my aunt when I was 17, it was my great great great great aunts and the center stone was an amethyst....which is my birthstone. I thought that was really cool!

I don''t see why it could be rhodium plated white gold? It is very llovely and I am sorry but glad you found something similar.

So it should work? I don''t want to spend the 30.00 to get it plated and have it look bad!

It''ll work but the upkeep will be more because when it starts wearing off you''ll be able to tell quicker. It also will wear unevenly, i.e., the parts that touch your neck will likely wear faster than the parts that don''t touch you.

I had a yellow gold 5-stone ring rhodium plated. I love it, but I''m finding that I need it re-plated about every 6 months. It looks awesome when it first gets done! I wear this ring every day, and clean it every day, which is probably why the plating wears so quickly.
