That''s got to be one of the all-time most expensive purchases!! Even if I had that much to spend, I don''t think I''d do it on eBay!

I wonder if the buyer will follow through and ante up?

Yes, but if you use paypal you have alot of buyer protection.

ar ar ar.

I just watched a special on diamonds...on PBS well it was months ago...and they highlighted the rarity of that color of diamond. There are so very very few and they are bringing beyond a premium. Of course I may have my colors off a shade or two. But it did say that most of the big time jewelers...Leighton, Winston and the like want to get those stones as it makes a big melange in the industry. WOO Hoo! Lookie what we've got?

Why would they have to turn to Ebay? Guess the seller wanted some positive feedback?

did I spell melange wrong...it doesn't look right and I am having brain freeze...I used the word I thought meant a BIG WHOOPTY DOO...websters says melange means a group of things....I want a word that means Whoopity Doo...do you know one? IS Moulage right? Oh drats. I hate it when my brain won't get in gear.

You''re not alone DKS; I don''t know what the right word is either right now! Btw, you spelled melange correctly, but I don''t think that''s the word we want here.

WHOA!
I noticed quite a disparity in prices when I scanned his other items.

An 800.00 marquise and a 2.5 million dollar purple/pink?

CRAZY MAN!

All the other items that the winning bidder bought were boy scout related! A far cry from this whopper!

...splash?
Sorry, what does "splash" mean in this context?

Isabel...I am so glad this thread isn''t going to be read by anyone else, and that this can remain between you and I.

I am an American kid, product of the tv generation. Andy Griffith show was a staple of my youth and has remained one in my marriage as well. (Hubby really did grow up in Mayberry) Please tell me you have seen that show? If you haven''t this is going to sound really stupid...

Episode...scene 1:
A crime has been committed...the criminals have left car tracks in the mud. The state trouper asked Andy (the sheriff) if they plan to make a Moulage of the tracks. Andy says something like we haven''t gotten to it...or it rained after so there was no point...

Scene 2: Inside the court house-away from earshot of the original conversation, Barney (the deputy) is addressed by another official and that makes the comment (paraphrasing the Sheriff Andy)...."It looks like you aren''t going to make a moulage..."

So Barney says...
"Well, we figured there was no reason to make a Big Moulage over the situation".

So there you have it. The perfect example showcasing the failure of public education in the United States of America. It seems that all my adult life, I have used the script of Andy Griffth show as my vocabulary and grammar syllabus. Yes, Isabel...that is root to my use of the word Moulage.

Lets make a caster mold of this thread and have it for all posterity.

Please don''t tell anyone else about this. How much more embarrassed can I be?

DKS, you crack me up!!! I too watched and loved The Andy Griffith Show, but I must have missed the episode about "the Moulage". I think it's the perfect word to use in this situation and in many others which will come to mind, no doubt

Thanks for the vocabulary building help
