I have a Nataklie K engagement Ring. I''m not sure if you can tell by the picture but it is has emerald cut diamonds in the shank and then 2 round diamonds on each side of the main stone that sit next to each other. My center stone is .76. In a few weeks I''m going to travel back home and upgrade my diamond. We were going to upgrade to a 1.7 -to a 2.0 carat round. Do you think the larger stone will look overpowering in my setting?

What I was thinking about doing was completely redoing my ering and getting the halo setting of my dreams. but if I upgrade my diamond I would need to stick with this setting for at least a year till we could buy the halo setting. Then my current e-ring setting would become a RHR with a colored gemstone.

So anyhow back to my question. Do you think a larger stone will look funny on this ring? My jeweler says it can fit up to a 2.0ct diamond but I think it would like very top heavy.

Thoughts?

TIA!

I think it depends on how hig it is set. If it is set at a reasonable height I think it would look fine because the band on the ering setting is a little wide so I think it could handle that size stone. My two cents!

I think your new stone will look huge and lovely as a solitaire. If I had to make this choice I would get a simple setting now, reset the original ring with a colored stone, and enjoy both. You could always get the setting of your dreams later on.

I agree with Sofi. I do think that it would be better to do a simple setting instead of trying to use this setting. I think it might be okay but I think it would look a little off balanced personally.

What kind of gemstone are you looking at to put in it? I love color stones in general :) I recently had one of mine redone to have my son''s birthstone put in and a cheapy translucent sapphire taken out.

Hi clg,

Well sort of on that line...my husband and I are thinking we are going to try to have children this year, so I thought I would put in their birthstone... whatever it is. So I would just hold onto the ring for a while until that times come.
