I''m referring to ''Pave'' diamonds or ''Micro Pave'' diamonds.

To me, when I see something and it says ''Pave'', it just looks like tiny little diamonds. Does the word ''Pave'' have to do with how the diamonds are set? I''m not sure I really understand it.

type 'pave' into the search box in the upper right.

it returns over 300 records, most of them with questions about pave, what it is, how to use it in a ring, is it safe, etc.

here is one that may be helpful re differences...but a search and a few minutes reading would most likely answer all your questions:

Pave'' is French for Paved... So paved with diamonds.

Generally bead set or low prong set. The metal between stones is minimized and the entire surface looks as if it is made of sparkling diamonds.

This should hopefully help more than an explanation.

My ring is set with micro pave. This weekend a girl commented on my ring and said something about all the 'diamond chips'. I cringed and wanted to say something, but didn't. From what I understand about pave, they are full cut diamond and each is set individually, very closely toghether. Micro-pave is set using a microscope. But, I think a lot of people think pave are 'chips' when they are a tiny diamond. Does that make sense?

This article might help.
