Hi Everyone,

I was just curious if prongs can produce a reflection or otherwise disrupt arrows. Here is a picture I took of a VS2 in a temporary setting. The image of the diamond that shows up on WF''s website is flawless - http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-1204644.htm ), so I really cant think of anything else to explain this. Since it is VS2 and the inclusion plot doesn''t really give reason for this, disruption from the prongs is the only thing i can think of (else it would be quite a coincidence that the 4 arrows affected are those pointing to prongs). I initially thought it was camera reflection, but the same arrows show this in every picture i took.

Thoughts?

Looks like a reflection of the large prongs of the temp setting in the diamond itself.

That is what it looks like to me as well.

interesting, I didn''t know this could happen. This must be a fairly common thing then (and definitely a good reason to coordinate prongs and arrows)?

Purely out of curiosity, is this a reflection of the part of the prong that hangs over the crown or from the underside? It would seem to me like it would have be the former, though that is my own speculation.

What happens when you rotate the stone within the temporary setting? And can you view the stone without the setting?

The diamond is actually (or at least, perceptibly) fairly secure in the setting so I don''t want to try and turn it. I also don''t really want to take it out since I''m a bit apprehensive about having a completely loose (and uninsured) diamond sitting around - with my luck, my cat would eat it!

When I send it back, I''ll just have WF take a look at it. If they say its fine, then i have no doubts.

You need have no doubts, those are indeed reflections of those monstrous prongs hanging over the crown of the diamond.

Amazing that you got it perfectly perpendicular to show the reflections.

Wink

P.S. That last sentence should read like the compliment that it is intended to be!

Awesome - TY!
