I picked up a ring for my girlfriend from a Jeweler who is a friend of mine. It is a 1.51 carat princess cut. I looked at the GIA cert and it says Cut Cornered Rectangular Modified Brilliant. Did he give me the wrong certificate? The picture at the bottom of the Cert looks for like a raidiant. Specs are

1.51 carat
Polish Very Good
Symmetry Good
VS2
G
Fluro: None
Depth 67.5%
Table 70%
Girdle Meduim to S Thick
Measurements 7.05 X 6.13 X 4.14 mm

Looking at the diamond, it look like a princess cut.

Thanks

CF, Cut-Cornered Rectangular Modified Brilliant is GIA''s nomenclature for a radiant. Have you asked your jeweler friend about it?

I wanted to get more information first. i have heard that a Cut Cornered Princess would be greaded as a Cut Corned Rectanguler Modified. I will check the diamond to see if the corners are cut.

Sometimes princess cut diamonds are cut at the corners (very minimal) to avoid corner chiping during the setting process...
But it could also (most probably) be some type of radiant cut...

easy to find out.

CF,

Ignoring L-W ratios, does the plot more resemble the top graphic (radiant) or the bottom (princess w/ 3-chevron)?

It looks like the top one. I think it might be a Square Raidiant. It sparkles like nothing I have ever seen. The ratio in 1.15 so I guess the GIA must call it Rectanguler even though it looks square to me. The jeweller also does all his own cuts.

Sounds very slightly rectangular. A radiant is a beautiful cut, perhaps your friend made an honest mistake and it will still work out (?): If you're happy and she's happy and the price is right it sounds like all is well.

Yes I am very happy with the stone. And my GF loves it. I just wanted to make sure I had the right GIA cert. I actully think the stone looks more beautiful than a princess cut.

Bravo.

After all, the point (brace yourself) is to make your princess radiant.
