Can my diamonds touch each other in a travel jewelery box?

Is it safe to store diamond jewelery with other diamond jewelery inside a travel jewelery box if the diamonds are not completely protected (like a tiffany setting)?

A diamond can scratch anything it rubs against.

I'd find a way to firmly secure them so they cant touch anything, or perhaps put each one in a little leather pouch.

I am always astonished when I see pics of parcels of polished diamonds, all touching each other.
