I really need some advises.

I am interested in a diamond ring at ebay. According to the listing, the center stone is a leo diamond, pricess cut, over 1 carat, I color VVS2 clarity.
But the seller doesn''t have either IGI certificate or Gemex report, he only gave me the laserscribed Leo#, and he said he can meet me in person at any jeweler around my residence.
I looked up at Leo''s website, and this # is real.

My questions here are:
1/ Can I trust a local reputable jeweler? If yes, what are the critical points I should ask them to verify for me?
2/ Anything I must pay attention during the transaction?

I understand that dealing with a reputable jeweler will be much safer, but I don''t have too many choices with my limited budget.

Thanks a lot!!

Hmmm... how much is the stone selling for? That will help determine if this is legit or not.

He asked for $5100.

Thanks a lot for your attention.

I would think that Kays could tell you the exact specs on the stone if you give them the ID # and then you can have the jeweler confirm that the number is inscribed on the stone in question.

I think the price is quite high and you could find something nicer elsewhere.

Do you mind to give a reasonable price range for this ring? I really don''t know better about jewelry.
Thanks so much.

You can go online at the Kay website and look to see how much a 1 ct I VVS2 clarity diamond ring costs. But realize that their prices are inflated and their grading is often out of whack, sometimes by two or more grades. That means you could actually be getting a J/K VS2/SI1 stone.

If you look at the top of the screen you''ll see a place where you can search for diamonds.

Bluenotes, I see now you''ve posted here a few times.

Now that you''ve found this site, and now that I have more info about you (like your budget...unless you anticipate your friend going a lot lower than he''s asking for)...do read here under the tutorial, and consider using resources here to buy new, and vetted.

For example, take a good look at this one, found here. The ring could be simple, like this, and overall, your assurance of good quality in this case, high. You could even skip the appraiser, if you wanted, which you would otherwise not want to do.

Best,
