The stone is from James Allen - it''s a .77 H VS1 graded by GIA.
Numbers are as follows:
Depth: 60.2
Table: 57.0
Crown: 33 deg or 55%
Pavilion: 41.0 deg or 43.5%

It is within TIC range according to the HCA and receives 4 excellents. So far the stone looks great, right?

Attached is the magnified image - does anyone see any problems?

My only concern, really, is that it is an H color - I don''t want it looking yellow on a white gold ring. Should I be concerned? Originally I told myself that I would only go with H if the stone was florescent - unfortunately this one is not.

So, is it a keeper? James Allen wants $2670 for it, I think that''s a heck of a good price for a stone that measures 5.97 X 6.02 X 3.61 and gets a great score on the HCA. What do you think?

Here''s the idealscope photo of the stone. Does anyone see any problems? I should add that the stone is rated as VG symmetry and VG polish. I was hoping for an EX - ideal symmetry but am hoping that this one makes the cut. Looking at these photos I am thinking that it does.

Thanks, I really appreciate your help and advice.

I am not an expert, but it looks good to me, should be no worries with an H colour at all in WG. The HCA indeed seems to like those numbers.

Looks really nice! I''m not an expert either but it looks like you''ve picked a winner. Good luck!

Hi will!

The diamond looks great! Here's my opinion on an H colored diamond.

I bought a loose diamond for a custom engagement ring last summer (1.56 H/VS2). Originally I wanted to go no lower than G; however after being convinced by the people on this board that an H is plenty white, I took a shot. Lets just say I was very pleased with the color.

A common mistake people make is taking the 'all or nothing' approach to color.. Its either white or yellow... this is incorrect. Think of an H, I, or J as more 'white with a tinge of cream' color to it. To my own amatuer eyes (which is representative of 95% of people, excluding of course the discerning eyes of the 'experts' on this board) my diamond looks like a G or better. The only time I EVER noticed a slight difference was when i compared it head to head with a D colored diamond and looked at it from the SIDE. From a top up view, the view your fiance will be viewing most of the time, they looked practically identical.

Also keep in mind how color is graded on these rocks... they are placed upside down and are looked at bascially from a side view. When I look at my diamond in the 'air', from any view, it looks white white white! When i place it upside down on a white piece of paper, ahhh, now i can see the tinge of cream. If this really bothers you, then yea you should probably shell out more to get the G. But I promise you its more of a 'mind' problem rather than an actual 'perception' thing.

Hope this helps. Don't pay for something your eyes can't appreciate. This diamond is well cut (which is the most important thing) and that will make it look like a million bucks, especially top down! Best of luck!

looks yummy to me will be nice and bright.

I agree, looks like a great stone. I personally can''t see any color in a well cut H so I don''t think you have anything to worry about there.

Go for it Will!!! H color will not be a problem... and to top it off, James Allen has a great return policy... just in case.
