Can anyone recommend a good (non-rotating category) cash back credit card?

My Citibank Mastercard used to be good but now they are going to that rotating category type (you know, this percent off certain types of purchases each quarter - when your enroll for the quarter, etc.).

Can''t deal with it. Just want the same percent off the same types of purchases all the time. Don''t have the energy to think about more than that.

Oh, I pay the bill in full each month. Always.

Thanks. :)

we use AAA cc from Chase.

Thanks so much, DF. I''ll check it out.

Anyone else?

Please?

American Express Blue Cash Rewards. I think it''s only 5% back, but that''s enough for me. Plus, there are many other benefits to having an American Express.

Sonoma, I just got that letter from citibank! Not only to the categories rotate, but you have to sign up online to activate it, what a hassle!

The Amex Blue Cash *used* to be a great cashback card, if you put a lot of money on your card over the course of the year, but now it isn't so hot. For the first $6500 you spend in a year, you get only 0.5% back on most purchases and 1% on gas, groceries and drugstore. After you spend $6500, then you get 1.25% on general purchases and 5% on the special categories. Every year it resets back to the lower rates for the first $6500 you spend. Since it takes so much money spent on the card in a year to just average 1% cash back now, I canceled it. The terms used to be more favorable. Unless you are spending booku bucks on it, I don't think it is worth it.

Anyway I have no great recs. Will probably keep using a citibank 1% cashback card for awhile (since we bank there, makes it easier) but keep my eye out for something better. We also sometimes do airline miles cards instead but usually I prefer the cash back cards. I guess this is the cost to passing the new credit card regulations back in the winter - the banks are tightening up their card-perks as a result.

Discover is like that too- sign up with the rotating categories.

Thanks again, all.

You too, Cara, eh. The idea of "signing up" and rotating categories just pisses me off (sorry for the language). I''ve got a young child, which means life is crazy and busy so I think I''ll probably let them keep their "signing up" and "categories". So, there you go Citibank - minus one customer.

The Am Ex Blue doesn''t sound too bad. I think I''ll look into that one and DF''s Chase card and get a new one.

Thanks Guys.

We use Capital One "No Hassles Reward" card. The cash back isn''t huge--2% cash back on gas and groceries and 1% on all other purchases--but it doesn''t seem to have the weird category thing you''re talking about.
