Hello wonderful Pricescope community!

Long time lurker! This site helped me learn so much 5 years ago when I bought a round diamond for a ring, I'm now I'm back because I want to purchase an emerald cut diamond for a RHR! I've been reading posts and trying to educate myself but I'd love to ask your help interpreting the ASET and IDEALSCOPE IMAGE for it.

I can definitely give more information if needed but I am worried about someone coming in and swooping it up. :wall:

I will be forever grateful for any initial opinions!!! Thank you!

I like the shape of it a lot, but there isn't as much red in the ASET image as I would like. Do you by chance have video of the stone? Ask if you don't. I'd like to see that and maybe we can tell you more.

Welcome to PS, by the way! :wavey: From one diamondseeker to another!

Thank you so much for your input and your kind welcome!!

I do have a still photo, a video, and the cert but I really don't want anyone to grab it our from underneath me. Let me contact the vendor tomorrow and see if I can put a hold on it. That way I can get the most accurate opinions!

It's above average. A video would really help. ASET alone isn't enough with step cuts. But there is potential there. Yes, more red would be nice to see, but again, for a step cut that's an above average ASET.

Is the stone tilted at all in the scans?

It looks very average.

You guys are amazing! Thank you for taking time to give me your opinions!! It means so much to me!!

I really loved the shape of the stone, it really spoke to me!! But if it's not a good performer then I'll keep looking (i am still seeing about holding it so i can show you the video and still photo).

I am planning on setting the stone East/West (with either a bezel or tension setting: want it to look more like a wedding band with a diamond in it), so while I'd love a larger stone I don't want it's width to be more than 5.5mm (which means I'm looking in the 1-1.4 carat range??)

Color: D-F
Clarity: eye clean (ideally in the Vs1-Vs2 range to save $$)
RATIO: 1.4-1.5 (slightly more or less for perfect stone): this is really important so I can get the biggest stone possible while staying under 5.5mm!
Budget: no constraints

Can you guys help me look for something??? I know you are very busy!!

Is this ASET any better??? (sorry this is one concept I do not understand)!

better

Yes, much better. That is what we'd consider a stone worth buying as long as other factors such as video and actual inspection confirm the beauty of the stone.

ok, that's good to know. i really like the overall shape of the other one better, but would rather have a better performing stone.

there is no video to the 2nd stone but here is a still photo and here are some specs from the GIA:

1.2 (7.38 X 5.1 X 3.45)
F
VS1
EX
VG
No fluro
Depth: 67.6%
Table: 62%
L/W: 1.45

I've been looking on Enchanted Diamonds since they have so many photos, videos, ASETs, and IS immediately available. The first stone had a cut score of 100% and this one is 93.7%. I know their cut score is not really important to consider, but do you think the ASET could not look as good on the first one because of tilt or something else? I really love it's cut corners and overall shape. Thanks!

The first one seems to have some dark areas. I do not think it is as well cut as the second one. Yes, their cut scores are fairly meaningless on fancy shape stones.

The second one is the sparklier EC.

Ok, this is all great info. Can't thank you enough!

I will look more into the 1.2 carat stone then!! Just want to look and make sure I'm not missing something better!! But I'm ready to buy one immediately.

If you have any you've come across if love your help! I'm such a novice! ;)

My biggest piece of advice is not to rush. James Allen has a lot of emerald cuts listed, too. I would look at all options before ordering. At James Allen, you can only choose three stones to ask for ASETs images. So see if you see any there, as well.
