Dear Gypsy / Diamondseeker and everyone else who chimed in during my search for an emerald cut diamond for a ring for my husband....

https://www.pricescope.com/communit...sy-diamondseeker-round-2-of-ec-search.210758/

Thank you all so much - I wouldn't have been able to achieve this without you.

I ended up working with Mark Turnowski at BE. He sourced the diamond and made the ring in platinum. A big thank you to him.

The diamond is stunning - I am a little jealous my husband will be wearing it and not me. At least I get to stare at it. I can't tell you how beautifully it performs - flashes, sparkles, shine, fire - the facets turn off and on brilliantly. I'm no expert on this cut but I'm fairly confident I've got a really, really, really nice stone. It is totally eyeclean, in fact I can't see anything even with my 10x loupe. It's white, white, white. I'd never guess it was a G.

Specs are:

0.76 carat
G
VVS1 (pinpoint, indented natural, natural)
VG VG
5.95 x 4.54 x 3.1mm
GIA

The setting is a very hefty 22gms of platinum in a matt finish ring inspired by a picture of one posted by Gypsy. The workmanship is lovely.

Marks was very patient and guided me through the process and I did bow to his better judgment on a number of design matters. I'm so very glad I did.

I'm not sure when I will give it to my husband, maybe November for our Anniversary or maybe Christmas or maybe I'll make him wait til February for his birthday. In the meantime, I'll sneak it out of it's box and polish it and admire it - a bit like Frodo from Lord of the Rings.

Now, I want an emerald cut only much, much bigger hahahha.

Attached are a couple of Mark's pictures and a couple of rubbish ones of mine! Of course, nothing compares to the beauty of it in real life.

Again many thanks for all your help everyone.

Happy weekend.

Wow.. Spectacular ring :)

He's a lucky fellow - very nice ring!!

That looks like an awesome stone in a quality ring - I think he'll be thrilled! :sun:

Thanks everyone. Hopefully he'll like it - if he doesn't, I'll just have to have it remade into something for me heh heh heh :Up_to_something:

Oh wow, that turned out to be fabulous!!! What a great looking men's ring! :appl: You did a really great job searching for the right stone and ended up at a great place to get the stone and setting made! :appl:

That looks fantastic.

I hope he wears it in health and happiness.

Handshots?

That's a really fantastic ring, and diamond.

IMO it's harder to design a sucessfull diamond ring for a man than for a woman, but this one hits it out of the ball park.

Well done!

it is a lovely ring.. why wait.. let him enjoy it now... if he doesnt like it... then you get to wear it???? :Up_to_something: :appl:

Wow! That's a great looking ring! Well done on the stone & setting! Hope you will come back with more pics once you give it to him. :appl:

That is so cool! I would to have something similar made for my DH. Would love to see handshots!

Ooooo I love it, it's stunning. Love the brushed matte finish.

Wow - Kenny - that's high praise indeed coming from you - I'm very flattered. Thank you so much.

Greg - I do like the way you are thinking but if I give it to him now them I'm gonna have to come up with something else for anniversary / Christmas - and really, the bling budget is supposed to be for me, me, me.

Gypsy/Diamondseeker - your help and guidance was invaluable during this process. I wouldn't have dared buy an emerald cut if you hadn't taken the time to point me in the right direction. It really is a lovely, lovely diamond so thank you both again.

To everyone else - thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. I will do hand shots when I give it to him and post on SMTB forum but it might not be for a while.

Finally, huge praise for Mark Turnowski at BE - I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

:wavey:
