Dear Gypsy / Diamondseeker and everyone else who chimed in during my search for an emerald cut diamond for a ring for my husband....
https://www.pricescope.com/communit...sy-diamondseeker-round-2-of-ec-search.210758/
Thank you all so much - I wouldn't have been able to achieve this without you.
I ended up working with Mark Turnowski at BE. He sourced the diamond and made the ring in platinum. A big thank you to him.
The diamond is stunning - I am a little jealous my husband will be wearing it and not me. At least I get to stare at it. I can't tell you how beautifully it performs - flashes, sparkles, shine, fire - the facets turn off and on brilliantly. I'm no expert on this cut but I'm fairly confident I've got a really, really, really nice stone. It is totally eyeclean, in fact I can't see anything even with my 10x loupe. It's white, white, white. I'd never guess it was a G.
Specs are:
0.76 carat
G
VVS1 (pinpoint, indented natural, natural)
VG VG
5.95 x 4.54 x 3.1mm
GIA
The setting is a very hefty 22gms of platinum in a matt finish ring inspired by a picture of one posted by Gypsy. The workmanship is lovely.
Marks was very patient and guided me through the process and I did bow to his better judgment on a number of design matters. I'm so very glad I did.
I'm not sure when I will give it to my husband, maybe November for our Anniversary or maybe Christmas or maybe I'll make him wait til February for his birthday. In the meantime, I'll sneak it out of it's box and polish it and admire it - a bit like Frodo from Lord of the Rings.
Now, I want an emerald cut only much, much bigger hahahha.
Attached are a couple of Mark's pictures and a couple of rubbish ones of mine! Of course, nothing compares to the beauty of it in real life.
Again many thanks for all your help everyone.
Happy weekend.
