Hi!

So I have started on the long road to finding the elusive well cut emerald cut. I have previously always been an RB girl but this is for an RHR so I wanted something with a totally different look to me ER - the plan is an EC with trap sidestones, *hopefuly* in a Leon or Steven Kirsch setting.

Anyway, so far I have 4 possibles, all of which I have ASET images for and 3 of which I have sarin reports (from James Allen. The 4th is from ERD - do they do sarin reports? I've asked Mark T about this but haven't had an answer yet). JA also came back to me with their gemologist comments and this is were I get confused and need some help. This is what they said about the 2 stones I have uploaded imges of below:

"Diamond xxxx (1.02crt F VS2) is the best of the group and offers the strongest light performance. It's icy white in color and its fluorescence has no negative impact on the overall beauty of the diamond. It has a traditional outline and ended up being our gemologist's favorite.

Diamond xxxxx (1.01crt G VS2) is a little darker under the table and has a wider shape as well. Due to its cut, it's visibly smaller than diamond xxxxx, even though it has a higher carat weight."

Now, I know I'm new to this but from looking at the ASET images, these comments seem back to front. The 1.01 G VS2 ASET looks MUCH better to me, loads more red. The 1.02 F VS2 looks like the one which will be dark under the table. Am I missing something here? I only picked this email up this morning to have not yet replied to ask them the same question but would welcome people's thoughts. The proportions on the 1.02 F VS2 look better on paper to me but I'm no expert on these things. Anyone have any thoughts or comments?

The other two I will post underneath as I can't attach anymore files. the first ASET and Sarin are the final JA stone which I'm not that keen on. Their comments were "Diamond xxxxx (1.24crt I VS1) has a wider shape and is also very bright. It has a true "I" color and gemologist stated that this will be your second best option". Am I being harsh or should I discard this one?

The final 2 images are the ERD stone for which I have no sarin report but the stats are:
1.04 I VS1
7.07 x 5.03 x 3.17
Table 64%
Depth 63.1%
Girdle Med - thick
Polish EX
Sym VG

Marks's comment was that this is about as good as it gets for an EC ASET but he has provided no other comments on the performance of the stone in person. I have asked for this and am waiting to hear back. Thoughts?

Thanks guys, any and all help extremely gratefuly received. RBs are soooooooo much easier!

Oh, I forgot to add, the AGA ratings based on the sarin reports are:

1.02 F VS2 - 1A
1.01 G VS2 - 3A
1.24 I VS1 - 1B

The G!

Not expert but preference is G too.

Hi trundlebunny

I recently bought an EC from JA...but I'm far from an expert. If it were me I would choose the G.
