hi all-

i''ve done searches and seen a lot of 2mm spacers. can those who own a 1.5mm (or thinner) plain spacer post pics? i''d love to see how they look with your wedding sets.

i''m planning on purchasing one and want it to be discrete...i''m wondering if 1.5mm is discrete enough. i''d like to go thinner but am concerned about durability issues with such a thin band. anyone experience any problems with their 1.5mm or thinner bands?

thanks!

My plain gold wedding band is 1mm. It was made to fit under the head of my original e-ring. It fits beautifully under the new one. The point was that I would have a wedding ring but it would kind of *disappear* beside my ER because it's important to me that the WR be there on my left hand.

That being said, I have had to take it in and get it bent back into shape maybe, 4 times in about 20 years. Because it's so thin, if I pick up heavy stuff (like luggage, or my laptop) it can bend slightly out of the round. Right now it needs doing again. But it's not really noticeable unless I remove it. (I just took it off to have a look, and it's kind of 'egg shaped' right now).

But if it was in between another band and my ER, I don't *think* it would bend so much...But then again, it doesn't really bother me. Depends on whether it would get on your nerves.

What I can say, is being so very thin, it's almost invisible. So that may give you the look you're looking for.

Good luck!

p.s. I'm going to go and find a pic...hang on..

OK here's a pic: you can see the WB (less than 1mm and the Er (which is approx 3mm)

When we got engaged (like, 22+ years ago - in the ''olden days'') I just asked the jeweller to order me a plain gold band as thin as he thought would fit under my ER, and with a curve similar to the shank on the ER. And that''s what I ended up with.

I was kind of surprised it''s 1mm. But I''ve actuallly measured it and it''s a tiny bit under 1mm...

It looks a bit weird all on its own but the only time that happens is in the interim between when I LOST the first sapphire and when I FOUND the 2nd one!
