To all the past posters that have initiated threads seeking advice about stones and settings and purchased a stone and setting PLEASE return to share your story, bid a final farewell and post pics.

I love reading all the details of the stone and setting search and SO disappointed that some members have vanished without a departure post.

Although I enjoy reading the various threads and I am beyond appreciative of all the valuable information that I have learned, I will probably not post as much once I find a stone and setting. However, I will most certainly bid my farewells, post pics and extend my gratitude for all the help and support.

Is anyone else disappointed when members vanish without closure comments?

I don''t get too disappointed. I feel like if somebody decides to leave, it''s generally best done quietly. I don''t really care to hear somebody''s parting thoughts - they''ve chosen to leave and not be a part of the community anymore, and generally it doesn''t affect me. One or two posters have left me

when they left, but not many. I think most of us (especially the Rocky Talky crew) know that we''re being used as a resource for a large number of people, and the amazing prosumers are still gracious and helpful. *That* is what PS is about - helping out and not expecting anything (except a thank you) back.

I see what you mean. I''ve seen people post about really fantastic rings they''re going to be purchasing and then no pics! What the heck? I don''t necessarily need to hear parting thoughts or anything like that but maybe a "hey, thanks for your help; here''s the finished product." Not that I''ve ever doled out any advice in RT, but I''ve lurked enough to wish people would come back once in awhile with an update.

I don''t think its so much about a dramatic goodbye, but closure of the item. If you''ve described this fabulous project and everyone has helped you research and then you never return to tell us how it went.. that''s upsetting! At LEAST post pictures before you leave. Unless you''re going to go all psycho and demand no one ever get anything like your ring, or no one copy your photos.. In that case, PEACE OUT no one needs that

I still just don''t care.

I don''t need closure on an item, or to see what a poster ends up with. If they want to share pictures, wonderful. If they don''t feel like it, okay, cool. I think regular, long-term posters tend to share photos, but people using us as a one-time resource don''t really feel any obligation to share photos. They used us for what they needed and left.

I guess I just don''t understand getting attached to somebody else''s jewelry journey to the point where I need closure on it.

Perhaps my post was a little too dramatic but this is EXACTLY what I mean. A poster providing and seeking detailed advice and than.....poof. Ex: I recently read numerous posts and threads made by Fanboy in 2007 and then to my dismay, he vanished without a

and pics.
