I hope that you find this post Musey

I am planning a Hawaii honeymoon for this december. We are planning on stating for 12 days and will be island hopping.

I read your posts about your Hawaii honeymoon. I also looked at the VRBO site you recommended. I am a little overwhelmed about choosing a place to stay. I don''t want to pay for a fancy resort. I would rather spend money on doing stuff. I would like to spend under 200 per night, 130 to 180 would be ideal. I think a condo would be perfect.

Can you tell me where you stayed on the three islands you visited, average price, and how you liked each of them. Basically do you have any recommendations on where we should stay in Oahu, Maui, and Kauai.

I would also love to hear suggestions from anyone else who has stayed at one of the islands.

Thanks so much,

oh just got to say you will LOVE the islands. It''s been 12 yrs since our visit but it was heavenly. (we took a 2 wk cruise and visited the islands). Enjoy !

Jess,
I''m not Musey but we did have a wonderful vacation in Hawaii for 12 days last June. We also Island hopped - Oahu (3 nights) stayed at the Sheraton Wiakiki. Wiakiki beach is wonderful. Oahu is more touristy than Maui and Kauai but the sites are fabulous.
Maui (3 nights) stayed at the Sheraton on Kanapali shores. Black rock was right outside our hotel room. Wonderful snorkeling. Also we could walk to all these nice restaurants along the shore. We loved Maui and wished we had stayed there longer.
Kauai (6 nights) stayed at the Sheraton on Poi Pui beach. Wonderful area. Kauai is beautiful and with the time we spent there we were able to see so many sights. We even made time for our sons wedding that took place at the Beach House. Wonderful place to get married. The next day we snooba''d right outside the beach house. You have to snooba. (unless you scooba, then you may not appreciate it).
Enjoy your honeymoon. You will love Hawaii

We stayed at Lahaina Shores Beach Resort in Maui & Aston islander in Kaua'i. Both were priced very well. There are a lot of videos on youtube for hotels on the islands check those out too-so much better than just pictures (In my opinion-any way).

Oh my... just watched a guest hidden cam at LSBR

-Thank goodness we don't leaving anything out-everything stays in a locked suitcase.

Hi jess!

I think you may be thinking of someone else, because I did not honeymoon in Hawaii. Our honeymoon was in New Zealand and Fiji.

I have spent a little bit of time on the islands but not nearly as much as a lot of other posters around here... I can give you location suggestions but probably not hotels/condos because we've always done a LOT of hopping around and honestly, I can't even remember where we've stayed! Also, whenever we've gone to the islands we've been there with family, so our accommodations have been for 4+ people... so not suitable for your needs.

Have you checked out tripadvisor.com? The boards there are AWESOME, especially the Hawaii ones which are very active. I posted a few weeks ago for help planning our trip to the big island in November (we're visiting family there), and people were sifting through VRBO for me, suggesting rentals, helping me lay out our itinerary, everything... truly awesome.

We stayed back in 2005 but I cannot remember how many days maybe five?, didnt have any problems with them. I''ve never had anything taken from our room while on vacation but we put everything in the suitcase before leaving the room even toothbrushes- due to hearing gross stories from a maid

& working at at hotel.

Just to see that maid digging in her ears & nose, putting on perfume not just on her neck.. oh my goodness. After watching that video I checked out more at other places one maid took a soda from the fridge, took a drink & then put it back. She also took money from their pants.

Thanks so much for your help. Planning a honeymoon is almost as much work as planning a wedding :-)I will definetly check out some of the hotels you guys mentioned and trip advisor.

Have a good time! We loved Kaua''i- so beautiful. If you do a search on pricescope you''ll find a few Hawaii threads hth!

I've gone to Maui and would love to go back. If we end up going to Hawaii for our honeymoon, we would definitely stay in Wailea, which is just a gorgeous area (but $$$$). When we were there, we stayed in Kehei, which is pretty close to Wailea but not nearly as nice. It's close to restaurants and a beach, but I honestly wouldn't recommend it, especially for a honeymoon, since it's not very romantic compared to some of the other towns (or at all, really). I don't remember the name of the hotel we stayed at, but it kind of reminded me of the resort from "Dirty Dancing," somehow -- serviceable, but very outdated.

If you do go to Maui, make sure to drive the road to Hana -- it's one of the "things to do" for a reason, it's absolutely stunning!
