If you''re at work today, how many people have called in sick to your office so far?

We are up to 2 (One man and one women), in my immediate group of 17.

I''m not sure, but people are definitely rolling in later than usual.

DH and I were talking about this yesterday. I understand the Feds can''t make a new holiday to fall on the Monday after the SB, but why not move Patriots day so it''s always the M after the SB? It would make things so much easier for everyone. And it''s conveniently named for my team

1 nursing assistant...thats out of probably 40 people! Not bad!

However, we have a few people who were scheduled off today (1 male who is probably the biggest Colts fan we have) and I work with mainly a bunch of females.

Pretty much everyone at work is staying home today but we also had a good sized storm sunday afternoon through later tonight. It''s snowy and icey and just plain yucky so I''m sure people took that as a sign to party it up and then call in with "oh the roads are too bad to come in" lol

Needless to say *I* came in to work today

Only 1 person and everyone else was on time. This person was really sick last week though so I doubt they''re faking.

All of my people are here today, though I am sure they wish they weren''t! I''m hoping the storm ramps up later so we can take off. I am having another one of those "nothing to do" days.

Wow, they do take football seriously in TX (teehee).

Only one person is out and she took the day off in anticipation....

I actually scheduled today off... Not because I was going to be hungover, but because I have to go to bed really early to get up on time for work, and I wouldn''t have been able to stay up to watch the game. Plus,
I have a doctor''s appt. later today. But I bet at least 3 or 4 people called in to work today.

We are all here. Since we were in that winter storm most of us were happy to have work to go to and not be stuck in the house another day.

MP- I''m having one of those days, however mine is quite unexpected... since my boss is one of the ones that called in sick. He blamed it on his kids though, and needing to stay home with them. So, I can''t be too mean.

PurseL- If I was rooting for either of the teams in the SB, I would definitely plan a vacation day, AHEAD of time. I don''t care if people know I am going to be hungover ahead of time, lol, it''s the people that call in the day after and think that you aren''t going to be talked about all morning for saying you are "sick".

Tuckins- More power to ya. I would definitely take a sick day, so that I could sleep in, and then schedule doctor''s/dentist/dermatologist appointments all day to get the most out of it!

DH called in sick! Haha. Though he actually is sick and skipped our friends' Superbowl party because of it. Plus, he's sitting around and actually doing work on his computer rather than playing video games (like I would do if I were sick).

eta: A college friend just stopped by our house for lunch on his way from PA back to Boston - but I believe he legitimately took the day off because he knew he wouldn't want to drive all the way back from PA on Sunday night (his gf lives in PA).

3 out of 17.

I was legitmately sick one year and called in sick the monday after superbowl. I also missed the superbowl party because I was soo sick. I had a stomach flu- virus. It was AWFUL. Even though I felt better by tuesday, I actually called in sick the 2nd day, because I didn''t want to have to explain that I really WAS sick.. considering the fact it was the first time I had called in sick in over 3 years... but eh... whatever. Actually calling in the 2nd day, made it *legit* for everyone else... I was just happy not to deal w/ the speculation the next day. Plus laying on the couch another day after puking for 2 days was actually rather refreshing! I hope your hubs feels better.
(sorry for the mini TJ mer)

I totally agree with this. It can''t just be the one day, you have to miss Tuesday as well, or no one will believe you.

However, for the woman that called in this morning, who was talking on Friday about the 2 different parties that she was going to be going to and how she doesn''t even like football, she could miss the next month, and everyone would still believe that she is either hungover or still drunk from last night.

DH is afraid that he''ll have to stay home on Wednesday too because of the snow (last time he tried to go in when it snowed he spent 2.5 hrs driving 5 miles, then turned around and came home). So he''ll definitely drag himself in tomorrow just in case Wednesday becomes a snow day (his boss is taking off Wed to go skiing anyway - he already sent us an email asking us to join him)

Though most of the people at the party are his friends from work, so they''d believe that if he missed out on the party, he was actually sick

It helps that his boss is a close personal friend and most of the people in his group are his friends - they won''t give him too hard of a time for calling in sick today

Everyone''s here

LOL!

Re: The woman that was out sick yesterday (and EVERYONE knew that she was watching the Super Bowl)...

Walked in this morning with a Family Size box of Saltine crackers, 2 cans of tomato soup, and a jug of water that would suffice an entire block of homeless people. A bit much...
