I''m feeling that looming guilt of calling in sick. Yes I''m sick, I have a cough that I can''t shake, a fever, and I''ve seen a doctor. But, we have a huge audit coming up in two weeks and I''m behind on my work because I had to get things together for the audit. I just hate how all of my employers seem to be more concerned about what my illness is doing to them then my well being. Just a, "I hope you feel better soon" would be nice

I always get that feeling of "sick" guilt around 10 am. Then I spend the rest of the day thinking about how I should have gone in. Sorry to hear about your co-workers. How do you know what they are thinking? Have you talked to them?

Try to go back to sleep

I know what you are talking about feeling guilty, but all the signs posted at the doctors office and in the hospital say that if you are sick you should stay home so you are doing the right thing. Your coworkers will just have to get over it. My opinion is to say screw them you are sick and they will deal with it. You are not wrong. If they are that concerned then one of them can drive to your house and bring you things that you can work on from home.

I always feel guilty too - but just remember you''ll probably be able to do more work when you go back to work tomorrow than if you''d gone in today and gotten sicker!

I am one of those people who feels guilty too, which is why I RARELY call in sick (maybe once a year, if that).

Here''s the thing...everyone get''s sick. So don''t beat yourself up.

It's totally normal; I always feel guilty whenever I've called in too. I always worry about what my co-workers or boss will think. But it's still better than going in to work and getting germs all over everyone else!

Feel better!

I am with you! I have been home sick 3 days and feel guilty for canceling my patient load, but I don''t need them sick too!

It''s better to take a day and recuperate properly than getting even more run-down and needing a week.

Thanks everybody

This!
I only feel bad if I am not terribly sick lol. If I am truly ill, I feel no shame, unless they really want me to come in and infect everybody.
