I am looking at the rolex 6694. Something about it gets to me. However, these are vintage pieces and will have to buy second hand. I have been trolling on ebay and chrono24, also second hand stores in AUS online. there are a couple on ebya and chrono that i am 'watching'. The question is the taxes. I am going to be in Oregon, and i think there are no taxes in that state. so, if i were to buy on line in OR, USA, i will not pay tax? is what i understand correct?

The Rolex 6694 all seem to be around the $2000. So, at least i know that the price is about right. where else do you think i can look?

i ahve seen one with canary yello diamonds aroudn the bezel... hehehehee. but no....

Timezone.com..Greg where are you located? looks like they are going for about $1300

I am in AUS.

I am having a hard time negotiating the webpage forum.... ugh!

Thanx. figured that i had to register first! then work out the website forum.

NOw the next question is- how do i know which is the real deal. being vintage pieces, some, well most have no papers. so how do i go about identifying which is the real deal?

My thinking is to buy from stores instead of private sale unless private sale has papers. However, the stores can also be a selling good fakes as it is online and there is no store? i guess, i am wanting to be sure that these are the real deal.

thanx in advance

Slight threadjack here.

DF I have a question about buying a PP.
http://www.patek.com/contents/default/en/findretailer.html has a list of authorized retailers.
I DO want the full warranty from PP.

Am I correct in assuming that if I buy it at one of PP's authorized B&M retailers I would have to pay full retail price, and the price is not negotiable?
And am I also correct in assuming that if I buy it from anyone not on PP's list the PP warranty will not be valid?
(I do not want a warranty from any third party.)

To put it another way, there are many online sellers of this watch, new.
Are any of them authorized dealers according to PP?

This is the model in question.

look for a seller who has been a long time member of the forum.there are some vintage watches still come with paper. one good news about buying a 6694 is that it is unlikely to be a fake b/c it isn't a very expensive watch.

not true...AD will offer discounts off of MSRP,always ask.. ;))

Kenny
My best advise to you would be to find an out of state Patek AD (save sales tax.. ;)) ) and see if you can get 25% off the sticker price.

Thanks, so 25% off is considered an average or a very good deal from an authorized dealer?

Is there an online seller who publishes what you believe to be today's true retail price?

Second threadjack - saw this ring at Dimend Scassi yesterday and it reminded me of your taste, Greg. Asschers in brushed platinum.

no,AD wouldn't publish their price online.Your best bet would be to call an out of state AD who is also a sponsor on Timezone.com

Kenny,I'm just guessing ,but If you can get 20-25% off of sticker... :appl:

Thanks.

Oh, I love that Asscher ring.

Hey there.... thanx for thinking of me rose bloom. :wavey:

Sadly, there are no real ones in AUS that i can try to see if that would work. I am a hands on kinda guy- i cant visualise unless it is on my hands. I just dont want to commission or buy 2nd hand without a return policy. Sadly, what i want, doesnt come easily in my size 9 fingers so it will be custom made and custom made has not returns, which i totally understand.

I have considered maybe the solitaire is enough.... Though i am going to give it my best shot at getting close to an aasscher/ carre eternity in the next 6 months. if now... c'est la vie and the solitaire it will be.

thanx for thinking of me!!!
