Please this is for Bem or any other Canadian or any other expert who can help me. I am begging!

I live at home with my parents and had my e-ring which is from WF insured as a rider on their homeowners insurance. Recently, my dad decided to switch his coverage and go with another company they are just like CAA in the US called BCAA.
They do all kinds of insurance.
I went in this morning with all my papers for my ring and was told that due to the fact that I needed more than $25,000 in coverage they would have to send it to an underwriter. I said fine as I expected this.
I believed that it would go through with no problems and expected my coverage to commence first thing Monday morning.

I just got a call from the insurance agent who asks me why I purchased my ring in the US? I was a bit surprised I figured I could go anywhere I want rignt? So I explain and she asks me if I picked it up in Texas and told her no the ring was from WF in Texas but I paid from here via wire transfer taking into account the exchange rate etc..
Then she tells me that according to the underwriter I did not pay duties on my ring and therefore it is illegally obtained and they will insure it but if I make a claim they WON''T cover it unless I show them proof of duties being paid.
I picked up my ring in the US and my understanding was that this was fine.
So now I am stuck with no insurance on my e-ring and I am just sick to death. I want to wear it but then I''m afraid.
Apparently, NO ONE in Canada does stand alone policies for jewelry anymore and the only way I can get coverage is to have it as a rider where I live and live at home right now until the wedding and my parents want to stay with this company BCAA.
What did other Canadians do? Where do I turn?
IS there any other way I can insure my ring?
I live in BC Canada by the way

PLEASE HELP ME I AM SO DESPERATE right now....
Thanks

did you pay PST/GST for it when the stone/ring cross the border?
There is no duty on loose stones, but you still have to pay pst/gst. If they had Fedex shipped it to you, PST/GST would have already been charged when you pick it up in Canada.

Pull out your paperword from Fedex and WF. Everything going through the border from WF via Fedex is documented accordingly, GST and PST (if applicable) are charged to you. Also, WF would have shipped with their certification. You should have everything you need to get this insured.

Push back: it sounds to me like
a)the guy doesn''t know what he''s talking about
b) he''s intimidated because you bought something in the USA (this is no different than a gift!)
c) even worse: you bought it on THE INTERNET (yikes, how scary!)
