It just came in the mail and I LOVE IT! It is so well made and super pretty. I''m really glad that I ordered it.

I bought it from Elizabeth David Designs on Etsy. The craftsmanship is very impressive.

Okay, here are the photos:

It came packaged so well, and very prettily.

Sorry about the photo quality, I''m a bad photographer.

Here are some other views:

It lies nice and flat when I fold the cover over, which I really wanted. The artist sewed a little pocket in for a Kindle light, in case I decide to buy one, and it has a nice big pocket on the left side for papers.

That's it! I highly recommend Elizabeth David Designs for an e-reader cover. She has a lot of different designs, this one is just very me, but they aren't all so girlie.

ETA: Manny Manifesto demanded to be a part of the photo shoot, by the way. He loves the cover, and highly recommends it, as well.

Very cute Haven! How are you liking the Kindle so far?

I''m still addicted. Been reading and reading and reading. Finished Pillars of the Earth and now reading a couple of bits of trash before I get into World Without End.

ooooh I LOVE it! That makes me want a Kindle more than the actual Kindle itself!

I have the Kindle app on my iPhone and I have read no less than 7 books on it. I really did not have high hopes for it, but it is surprisingly easy to read and so handy to have a book with you all the time.

I LOVE MY KINDLE!!!!

I haven''t bought any books yet because I''m still addicted to my library and I''ve yet to want a book that my library does not have. HOWEVER, I have downloaded a ton of free classics and reread some of my very favorite books of all time. It was especially fun to read The Velveteen Rabbit one afternoon over lunch.

I''m so glad I bought it.

So you read books on your iPhone? Interesting! Is the screen very small?

I like the Kindle for exactly the reason you stated--it is so convenient. I love that Jane Austen is always right there with me, wherever I go.

I''m glad you like it! Pride and Prejudice was the first book I downloaded to my Kindle...love Austen.

I think I''d like the library, but don''t have time to go. Kindling is the only way I can really read (or ordering the physical books from Amazon).

I might get the Kindle app for my blackberry so I can read when I don''t have my Kindle on me. Just the thought of reading that tiny screen makes my eyes hurt though.

Hehe, it''s great to have the familiar favourites on hand when you find yourself with a few minutes to kill!
Yes, the screen is small and you have to "turn pages" often. But the writing is a good size (and it''s changeable). It''s definitely not perfect, but it is a lot better than I would have imagined. The screen is surprisingly easy to read from too, although I don''t generally get tired eyes or headaches so it mightn''t work as well for some. You can have black and white, or sepia, which is my preference.

I think I''ll put the Kindle on my wishlist!

I love the cover. I wonder if they make them to fit Kindle 1....yeah I was an early adopter..lol

love the cover

im still dying for a Kindle, but i keep waiting for the price to come down a little, as everyone seems to think it will. And the longer i hold out the more i think ''well if i buy it now then of course thats when the price will go down''. Sigh

i have kindle-fever...

Oh my gosh!!! It is soooo cute. I'm getting one! SO SO much better than my boring black one!

Thank you so much for posting pics!!

ETA: Just looked at link. The choices! The choices! How does one ever decide?

that''s a gorgeous cover! I love etsy artisans - I had one make me a great little bag for my laptop

Blackpaw--I had the same reservations. I was *sure* the price would go down as soon as I bought my Kindle. But then I figured that with the 30 day return policy I could always return it and re-buy if the price went down, so I just went for it.

April--I know! There''s too much to choose from. I ended up buying the design I kept on returning to, and now that I have it I have no regrets. I think you can also choose different patterns for the inside too, just to make matters even more complicated! Let us know if you buy one!

Maevie--I love Etsy artists. I just bought six pieces for my walls from a great Etsy artist, and I love knowing that all of the money I paid went directly to the artists, themselves.

I love etsy! That cover makes me want to go out and buy a kindle just so that I can order the cover

. I''ve been meaning to start a ''list your favorite Etsy seller here'' thread but keep putting it off.

Me too fiery!

I''m so glad you responded, because I''ve been wanting to tell you FOREVER that your daughter is, literally, the most gorgeous child I have ever seen in my life. I peruse the newborn thread every once in a while to keep up with who has a new baby and my jaw dropped the moment I saw her picture. She''s unbelievably beautiful. And she looks like a little ball of love, too.

Wow thank you so much Haven! That really made my day

. So nice of you to say!

I''m just speaking the truth!
I showed her picture to DH and he said "Wow. They should have more kids!"

Haven, thank you so much for posting this! I am obsessed with my Kindle and have read about 25 books on it since I got it two and a half months ago. I''ve been avoiding getting a cover because most of them are bulky and not-so-cute, but I think a pretty cover like yours may be perfect for me. I also love supporting independent artisans. I just don''t know how I''ll ever be able to decide on a fabric with all those darling choices . . .

By the way, Fiery, I have to agree with Haven about your daughter--she is one beautiful and adorable child!

Haven, I procrastinate on a lot of stuff, but a super cute Kindle cover is not one of those things!

I just ordered the Camden Fair cover. So cute! I will post pics when I get it!!

Slightly OT, but how''s the battery on the Kindle?

Slightly OT, but how''s the battery on the Kindle?
Amazingly long-lasting. I read a lot (2-3 books a week) and mine will last at least week as long as the wireless is turned off. I rarely have to charge it. You only need the wireless to download books and documents or shop in the Kindle Store.

I read my Kindle mostly when I''m traveling and rarely at home, and I charge mine about every 3 weeks. I probably read on it 4-5 hours a week. The battery life is amazing. As long as you keep the wireless off, it is very long lasting and there''s really zero reason for the battery to be one unless you are purchasing/dowloading books.

Wow that sounds great! It's going on my wish list for sure. Although I love the feel of paper and "real" books, I just read too much. There are piles of books everywhere in my house.

(Ok, so I could just join the library...but my local one isn't great, they don't have a huge amount of stuff and...waaaaaa I just wanna new gadget, especially one that I can dress up in pretty covers!!)

I did an actual "study" on the battery life for TanDogMom on her nook thread. It does about 25 hours of active reading before it needs a charge, with the wireless turned off. I can read about 4-5 hours per NIGHT and not need to charge it for a week. When my ILs were here, it was on sleep (with the screen art on) and I didn''t look at it for 3 weeks. The battery position was still pretty much in the same place, so the ink takes very little, if any battery life. I think it''s the active page turning that drains it, so if you read fast, you''ll drain it faster than someone who reads more slowly.

I LOVE that cover--my final choice was between the one I bought and the Camden Fair cover, how funny. The birds are what did me in for the style I chose. I love anything with animals.

Can''t wait to see your cover!

Haha! Porridge--This was pretty much my same line of thinking. I usually have about 25 library items checked out, and I don''t purchase many books at all, so DH couldn''t figure out why I wanted the Kindle. But I WANTED IT darn it, so I bought it.

I really do love it, and I''ve downloaded over 50 classics for free that I really do love and will read repeatedly throughout my life, I''m sure.

And the pretty cover makes everything so much more fun!

I LOVE the bird one too, but I thought to myself, "You CANNOT get the same one as Haven, even if you don''t know each other IRL and live in different states!" I wanted to be able to show a different one and not look like a copy cat.

Plus, I really did love the design of the Camden. If it wasn''t OTT, I would have bought both and switched them out.

Also, I have the medge cover that zips...not as cute as some of these, but I really throw things in my bag and like having a cover that protects the kindle and prevents my garbage from squeezing in and doing damage. Or crumbs from cookie I inadvertently had in my handbag from finding the crevices of the Kindle.
