... between 3/10ths of a mm on small diamonds for studs?

I''m considering the following, ranging from .277 ct to .317 cts, all either round ideal cut or ACAs:

It seems that the difference between the 4.16mm and the 4.4mm (the widest spread) wouldn''t be very obvious - esp on different ears - but what are your thoughts? I can''t even draw 3/10ths of a mm on paper. Here are the measurements I''m looking at:

4.16-4.18 X 2.60
4.42-4.43 X 2.65
4.37-4.39 X 2.67
4.40-4.43 X 2.69

This brings me to another question - is the difference between .5 cttw studs and .6 cttw studs even noticeable?

Thanks!

I can see the difference between 4.2 and 4.4mm diameter diamonds when they are side by side. On opposite ears, not a chance. However, this size difference does not make what I'd term a "perfect" pair. Good enough for most folks, but not for a perfectionist. Its up to you, not me.

Again, I can see the size difference between .50ct rounds and .60ct rounds when they share the same cut proportions. Obviously, the heavier ones cut to identical proportions of the lighter ones would be smaller diameter. You might not see it in earrings, but again, not a perfect match.

0.1mm variance is where I always draw the line on matching diameters of rounds. In some fancy shapes, a bit more latitude can be added. Just my own working method, not universal.

Thanks for your response, Dave - it''s very helpful. I really can''t visualize the size difference there in my head, and having trouble crudely drawing it. Now I just have to decide how impatient I am and how much of a perfectionist I am.

Thanks again for responding.

It must be a very subjective experience. For some reason, the biggest "jump" in size for me occurs between .5 and .6. There's just something about .6 that's "enough" if that makes any sense. Best wishes.
