Hi Maisie! :wavey:

Love your new tattoo and the one you're going to get! Thank you for starting another thread....I enjoy seeing all of the art!!!!

I have 7 tats now and will be getting another one on my birthday, August 31...next Tuesday. I'll have to get DH to take photos since 5 are on my back. The other two are on my left breast.

All of my tattoos have a heart in them someplace.

Lori

ETA: I have 8 tattoos....just found one on my back that I had forgotten. :errrr:

I LOVE looking at tattoos and hearing all the different stories behind them! I am especially a sucker for all the gorgeous flowers & Little Grey Kitten that back piece blew me away! It's absolutely gorgeous. I also come across those touchy-feely people once in awhile, but usually it's women that do most of the touching and/or clothing-rearrangement, and I think most times people just have an honest curiosity and lose track of personal boundaries. Sorry about your cousin-in-law--ew!!! Not acceptable.

Radiantquest, my husband and I thought about doing something similar but relatively non-matchy together too but it seems like we just talk about it and never act on it! I like the idea of having two different tattoos that can create another if we put them together, if they were on our forearms or something (hard to explain). I think the Roman numerals would be neat and I definitely think your placement is an excellent idea! (I will keep that in mind, if you don't mind!).

HawaiiOT, your husband's sleeve is amazing and it's so nice that it represents your marriage and your family, too. I think sleeves are sexy on a man OR a woman, but for some reason I would be sad to see my husband's tattoo-free skin disappear!!

I have a few but I especially wanted to post my koi tattoo since there seems to be a little bit of a koi theme going on!! Maisie and Packrat, I hope you post pics once yours are done!! I love my koi, I have had it for almost six years since I became friends with an artist and watching him tat everyone else made me want another. It goes from the middle of my ribs to my hipbone. By the way-- I'm not actually orange... this pic was taken outside at sunset!

That is beautiful!! I love it and I love the placement too. I really wish I could have colour tattoos.

Haha, me too. I forgot my largish tramp stamp when I was counting them up earlier. Well, I can't see it so out of sight out of mind? Lol! Glad I'm not the only one.

Thanks guys! I'd had a hard time coming up with something else to top (or even equal) my Lalique dragonfly- the poppies all over my left leg were a bit of a surprise, and they're more traditional looking than benjamin's work on my back.

I want Benjamin to do a Luna moth on my shoulder though.

It is easy to forget the ones you can't see....that's why I starting putting some in front. I can't miss them on my boob...LOL!

All of your art is amazing and I'm enjoying the stories associated with them, too.

My next piece will be a dragonfly, but on the smaller side. I have a beautiful handmade lampwork bead that I'm going to use for inspiration.

Well here's something slightly different: I got a mouse and a water dragon like the day I turned 18. I thought myself something of a punk rock superstar back in the 80's. Basically, I went in and asked for the biggest tattoo that I could get for 100 bucks. No thought towards the image or placement... the excitement for me at the time was all about being reckless.

Anyhow, about 2 years into it, the regret started. :blackeye: I began a collection of 3/4 sleeve tees and dresses and felt basically fated to live out my mistake by covering it up for the rest of my life. Long story short - finally found a good laser doctor and it's almost off. This is after 3 sessions.

I still am very fond of tattoos and love good artwork. Just not this one ;))

I don't have any (apart from permanent eyeliner) but my husband got a full sleeve done on our honeymoon to mark the occassion of our marriage. I was supposed to get 3 frangipani flowers on my foot at the same time but it didn't happen. The 3 white frangipani's represent myself and our 2 girls.

ETA, forgot to flip the first one photo the right way around.. sorry!
That is sooo cool!!! I love the colours and the whole thing!

So I've got to know. Do other girls here with ink have this experience? That "looking at your tattoo" is now the method of choice for guys to hit on you?

Yes. I have a half sun on either side of my cleavage (no pictures of that, sorry!) and I have had men blatantly ogle it and women reach out and TOUCH it. I'm ok with being touched, and I'm ok with being stared at, but really. What makes them think that's ok? (And before anyone says it, NO, I didn't get it to draw attention to my cleavage. I thought it was pretty. You'd be amazed how often people assume that.)

I have a dragon on my back too and my best friend once pulled my shirt out and down to show it to one of her guy friends and nearly choked me with the collar. Thanks, bestie!

ETA: I am planning on getting a phoenix sometime in the next few years. DH will get one, too, it's something we have both always wanted. Mine will be in rainbow colors, his in reds and golds. I want a tiny heart on the palm side of my left ring finger - just above my ring - and something to stand for Micah, too, but I haven't decided what yet.

You are TOTALLY workin' the 'tude in the first pic debby!

It's amazing what they can do with lasers now, you can hardly see anything!

Beautiful tats ladies! I'm going to have to try and take pictures of mine to post!

Missydebby: question for you....I'm in the process of researching laser removal for work that was recently done on my foot that I'm not entirely thrilled with. It is currently two months old. It has a lot of the same colors your arm has in it. Some of the research I have done online about laser removal has been SCARY....to say the least!

Can you tell me what laser is used and how long you are waiting between treatments? The laser center where I got my consultation uses the Cynosure Affinity Yag and the Candela Alextrivantage (or something like that) I need some encouragement...I'm petrified that I will start the removal process but then the colors will not be completely gone!

HOT, I love your husband's sleeve! I find them pretty sexy on guys. I don't see a lot of women with them. I think ckrickett has one, maybe? She hasn't been posting in awhile but hopefully she sees this thread and shows off some of her ink.

I have one tattoo that I hate on my lower back. It's the Pisces glyph. I like the tattoo, but the moron tattoo artist didn't center it so it's not directly on my spine. Grrrr. And it's tilted. Double grrrrr.

Hey Vanillalatte! Sorry I didn't answer sooner. My story: First I went to UCLA's dermatology center... which I almost do not count. Went there 3 times and found out that twice they didn't use the right laser. So it took off my only-black little mouse up top but did not much for my colorful dragon. Then I found out about a really great laser specialist in Pasadena, CA. What you need for color like this is something called the Alexandrite laser. A lot of places don't have it or share it cause it's such an expensive machine. Anyway, after 3 sessions with this doctor, my tattoo is almost gone - with no scarring. But it's intense. I mean really painful. The higher the power, the better it takes off the ink, but they tried a couple of different settings the first 2 times to see what i could take. And it is like having a 3rd degree burn: the area becomes a massive blister that you have to take real care of. Cost wise- UCLA charged me $400 per session and the good dr in Pasadena honored that price. And of course, it's out of pocket. In total, I expect to spend about $2000 to $2400 removing it. As far as how often you can go... for me, I only do it when I return to the States... so only once or twice a year. But I think you can go in every 3 months. You have to wait for the skin to heal and the results can take a few months to fully realized. Personally, I wouldn't go through all of that if my tattoo were in a less obvious place/easily cover-upable.

Here is the website of my doctor. They are awesome and might be able to answer more questions. And if you're not in the LA area, perhaps they can recommend a Dr. by you : http://www.laserbeauty.com/

Hope that helps :D

this is my husbands famiy crest (well mine too :)) ) its my favorite one he has.

I just realised that I didn't come back and post a pic of my Koi tattoo. I also got another small one on my hand...

Awesome tats Maise!

Here is a distorted photo of the tattoos over my heart. It is hard to hold up your left boob and try to take a decent photo at the same time. :errrr: The three footprints are for Bonnie, Clyde and Coco. They are all equal in size IRL.

The red heart is really nice, too. I got it in front so I could see it. All of my other tats are on my back.

Q for tattoo'd PSers who've had babies, esp women w/ hip tattoos - did you find that your tattoos went back to their original configuration and colour saturation after delivery? What happens w/ stretch marks?

I don't have any in the hip area, but even if you bounced back perfectly it would be highly unlikely that the tattoo would look exactly how it did before pregnancy. Skin stretches and bounces back, but ink is not really meant to do that. It might get close to it's original shape but the ink will have "thinned" and it will look faded. A touch up will be in order! I am pretty sure you can fix it unless your skin (like mine, grrr) stays a little more, er, floppy?

WOW LADIES!!!!! AWESOME INKAGE!!!

Here is mine - I did this when my mother passed away - she was a florist. That's probably where I got this flower obsession from!! :))

I have one tattoo, that I got at age 23. It was the only thing I could think of then that would still apply at 93. Lips on the rump....

Maisie-I so love that koi!

Amethyst, seeing the close up of your hand, I have a circlet around my upper arm that looks a lot like yours!

Amethyste, what a great way to memorialize your mom.

Do you find people have issues with hand tattoos? Or have you had any problems?

DEM - I thought I would at first - but I have not had any problems whatsoever. Even elderlies come to me and want to see it!
At the current job I am in at the moment, their employee handbook says: " No visible tattoo are allowed " - and I am working here lol.
I get comments daily because of it. It gets more love from strangers than my ring! lol

Am, no, I've not posted it yet. I kept meaning to, but I've been lazy about taking pictures. I'll have to have JD do it..it's on my right arm and I don't think I can take the pic w/my left. I do have a couple not so close pics..I'll see if I can get them on here.

I think these are going to be really small and crappy quality but it's all I can find. I have one that I think is pretty good but the scanner hasn't been working.

This one goes all the way around my bicep. I've been thinking of adding something to it, but haven't decided yet.

JD has my name on the inside of his wrist. That's pretty much the only picture I have of any of his. Hopefully will be having my cousin work on his back piece this winter.
